Hi All
Can I please get someone's help with the NJA aircraft types? I heard on a previous post that the following choices were offered in the last NJA class: 560, 560ep, 560xl, 680, 750, da2000, and g200

When I look at the NJA website, however, they don't list the 1st 5 choices. Are the 560/EP/XL, 680, and 750 called different names on the website?

Here are the website choices:
Cessna Citation Bravo
Cessna Citation Ultra
Hawker 400XP
Cessna Citation Encore
Cessna Citation Excel/XLS
Hawker 800XP/900XP
Cessna Citation Sovereign
Cessna Citation X
Hawker 4000
Gulfstream 200,
then the large cabin aircraft.

Thanks for the help!
Barney

560 = Ultra
560EP = Encore Plus
560XL = Excel
680 = Sovereign
750 = Citation X

My only Citation experience is the Sovereign but here goes.

Citations fly like dump trucks. Not bad if you're already flying one but a change if you're coming from anything else.

The 680 has the same small cockpit as the X. Not bad if you're 6' or less, not great if you're over 6'.

Lots of down low climb power. Slow up top. Usual cruise is .76

Hot wings, long cabin, big baggage, lots of room.

Old technology in the cockpit. Newer then the Hawkers but a decade behind CL30/LR45.

Quiet airplane, very quiet.

Very short landing and T/O distances. Great brakes. Trailing link gear.

680 is a pretty busy fleet along with Excel and X. Lots of 680's on order so the chance of being fairly senior quick is a possibility.

Good luck!

The last class was not offered the Falcon 2000, not even the classic. That FO seat is currently over 2 1/2 years of seniority to hold judging from the last couple of bid awards. That will probably not change any time soon. Most of the other aircraft will be a possibility though for a new hire. The 2000 had new hires within the last year or so, but long upgrade times and no seat lock for initial upgrade took that possibility away from new hires now.

What are the differences in how each airplane is flown; i.e., lots of legs, trans-cons, fly a lot/little, etc?

From what I hear, the Citation X, XL/XLS and Sovereign fleets are very busy. The X and Sovereign will do a few transcons every tour while the XL/XLS flies shorter hops due to range limitations. I hear the X is referred to as the "slave ship." But heck, you fly faster than anything else - so fast that you will fly more trips in one duty day as a result in some cases. The XL/XLS is the biggest fleet in terms of numbers and they fly a lot due to their popularity among owners. All fleets are influenced by holidays (every fleet is booked) as well as maintenance issues. You might have a broken airplane for a few days and not fly at all.

I think the G200 and the Falcon fleets are pretty busy too. The Hawker, Ultra/Encore and Beechjet fleets don't fly as much as the others. If you like to sit in hotels and FBOs, those fleets might be of more interest.

If I had a choice of fleets, I personally would look at the G200 and the Hawker 800XP-C. The G200 has a relatively wide flight deck and it can fly a decent variety of trips (range capable to Hawaii). The Hawker 800XP-C has a Pro Line 21 cockpit and it doesn't fly as much as other fleets.

We don't do a lot of Transcons in the 680. It's really way too slow. Lots of half ways and Northeast-FL runs. Islands are popular too with the runway numbers that we have.

A wide variety on the X.

Here are a couple of trips, just to get an idea. These are all one day "snap shots", of different trips.

Longest days...San Diego, Gulfport Miss, Puerto Rico, then to Costa Rica.

Or...

Costa Rica, Grand Cayman, New Orleans, Calgary.

Or...

St Vincent, Puerto Rico, Aspen, Centenial.

Shortest days...

SJC-SFO

Or...

JAX-BCT.

These are the extremes.
