Anybody have info on NetJets Europe?

As a pilot with a 91/135/Frac background, I'm curious about what it would take to work there. How hard is it for a US pilot to be considered. I'd also really like to hear from an FAA-Certificated Pilot on any required license conversion, etc. Plus all the standard QOL issues.

Thanks.

You will find all you are looking for on this site there is a thread about 8 pages long. Just search Netjets Europe.

You probably have 3 times the requirements they are looking for BUT......

You must have a JAA license which involves 14 test and will cost you over $15,000 to get. ( the medical alone cost $600 and must be done in Europe.) Some guy I talked to did the conversion and took 11 months full time study to get through it.

Then you must have the legal right to work in the EU.
Just as we don't allow Europeans to just come over and start working neither do they.

Good luck, I would love to do it but when I looked into all the requirements I decided to stay where I am.

A Euro passport will be your first obstacle, if you can get one of those, the JAA conversion will be your next issue. I've got the first one and am working on the JAA conversion, it's not pleasant and will likely take me well over a year to study and pass the groundschool exams followed by a quickie JAA type rating with Bombardier in Montreal.

Flight deck crew

NetJets continues to recruit highly professional, motivated and customer service driven flight crew who seek interesting and challenging opportunities.
First Officers: minimum requirements

  • 1500 hours total flight time (excluding simulator hours)
  • JAA ATPL (CPL with the theoretical ATPL successfully completed will also be considered)
  • Multi-engine rating
  • Multi-Crew Cooperation certificate or proof of exemption
  • A valid EEC passport
  • Jet and/or turbo-prop experience (excluding simulator time), and
  • Fluency in English
NetJets does not hire direct-entry captains as we believe pilots need to gain experience in our type of operation. Experience has taught us that this objective is successfully achieved with some time as a First Officer. However, pilots that meet requirements can expect an upgrade as quickly as within 6 months.
Minimum requirements for a captain upgrade:

  • 3000 hours total time
  • Demonstration of excellent performance as a First Officer at NetJets;
  • Pass an upgrade course (Ground school and SIM), and
  • Completed line training as a captain (including the line check).
Preferred profile and skills

  • Extensive European flight experience
  • Command time advantageous
  • Strong JAR OPS commercial aviation background
  • Military or airline training
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Multi-crew experience (500 hours)
  • Flexible attitude, and
  • Knowledge of two or more European languages
P.S. Props on the Fawlty Towers Avtar, one of the best comedy series ever made!

Thanks for the link. I hold dual nationality (US/UK) and think that I may be okay as far as the right to work issue in the EU. Too bad the JAA conversion isn't less involved. I think it would be enjoyable to fly fractionally in Europe.

TDK90-

What materials are you studying for the exams? Is this something that you're doing on your own, or are you in a formal conversion course?

You didn't say if you are also interested in NJE or if you were going to work elsewhere in Europe.

And thanks for recognizing Basil Fawlty...
