I'm guessing it's to make them more attractive for potential buyers.

That's been my suspicion for some time. There's no question that the retrofit program for the Ultra should have been started many years ago, given the sort of airports that it goes to on a regular basis.

The 400's though have an airconditioning unit that can be run on ground power.

At least I think there's an option for it. About $20 grand extra but this is netjets so I doubt that'd be an issue

It's nice that the U-boat fleet is getting TCAS just in time to be retired...

Well,

At the rate of retirements, the Ultra will be around in some numbers for the next 5+ years (unless retirements are accelerated.

I, for one, have flown 4 birds with the TCAS mod and I am thankful we are getting them.

If the mod helps the resale value or marketability, so be it.

I agree on both accounts.

Part of the reason I chose the Encore over the Ultra during the fleet separation was that the Encore had TCAS.

Well, that and not having to use a modified 172 hand mic to check for metal chips in the engine oil.

If TCAS saves 1 ship, it is worth it.

Especially if it is MY ship.
