Not that I'm pro-union or anything, but if I HAD to work at either of those outfits now, I'd rather not be on a non-union side if I were facing getting gobbled up.

You guys are way off. Real deal from someone with his ear close to the ground is we're going back to the pre -98 blueberry blue uniforms with the cool red stripes. No word on hats yet........

Well, It is kinda wierd that just a few months ago they offered 69-73ish based on percentile at year 5. Two weeks later they are offering 90. Makes me wonder..... why the sudden jump???? I mean, with the Holidays coming around the corner, it clearly needs to be settled otherwise everyone is gonna get the flu and be sick. But if in fact that it gets sold (and if they new that all along) , the contract becomes null and void. Then they sucked us dry for 4 years and will have fooled us all. But hey, its all speculation. I dont believe a thing I hear until I see it in black and white. Just something to think about.

Wrong.... The contract is not null and void if NJA gets sold. It remains intact...
 
Not trying to argue that point, more I guess a question due to ignorance of unions...

If purchased by a non-union company, what is in place to make them honor the union and the contract???

Please allow me to play Devil's Advocate for a moment. If NJ buys anyone non-union is there any chance there will be some sort of integration of the seniority lists, or will this simply be a staple job. And what do you guys feel should happen, regardless of reality.

Also, anyone close to the source, what's the main bullet points of the New Deal? Are you grandfathered in to commute from anywhere if you were on the seniority list before it was signed/effective? How do you think the new gateway system will work for recruiting new pilots next year, or will the acquisition of who-ever solve the manpower crunch?

Inquiring minds want to know........

The main benefits are in no order:
- fly from home for anyone on the senority list prior to yesterday
- more pay
- a kick but scope
- 7n7 for those who want it

bad points:
- 5 year deal
- new hires have to report to a gateway that will be assigned to them when offered a job.
- we have to order our crew food off of a menu of about 7 items
- could have been a lot better signing bonus
- Bad 7n7 start days

Those of of at NJA that are rational, know that this is not a perfect contract. But we also know that it is night and day better than what we had. This contract is a building block for the future. Our new leadership did this in a year, imagine what they can do with 5 yrs.

The crew food issue willn't work, been told by those here for awhile that it was tried before and failed bad. Should correct itself within a short time. The fly from home is a big can of worms. Hopefully the company will take a hit on recruitment, and will be forced to give it to everyone. If not it will eventually cause a huge gap between us and any new hires, who will eventually out number us.

It will be interesting to see what comes up in the very near future. Rather it is we have been sold, or we have bought someone, there is something big coming down the pike. But like I said before, our quality of life just went up exponentially.
