I don't know if this is good or bad. Mr. Impulsive says he will be looking over shoulders as the yield mgt dept is moved to headquarters. If he is truly serious about higher yields, he will need to kick his addiction to those ridiculous LF's that he is hooked on. Yield mgt is not just plugging in fewer discount seats but actually charging $5. to $10. more per ticket. I have my doubts that Neeleman will actually raise the bar on fares and will be too intimidated that other carriers will look to undercut Jetblue.

Dave, stop worrying about those LF's and let the product stand on it's own. Jetblue has enough of a brand following to more than make up for it!

Actually if you look at the fares on jetlblue.com they are signifigantly higher then in the past. By signifigant I mean 10 to 20 bucks higher. I would expect to see more fare sales as a result. Check out the regular fares on these new routes/additonal summer frequencies:

B6 might start overbooking -- although I hope they don't. That is one of the nice things about flying B6.

May be if they had a $5 charge for the tv's? Frontier does that, at least I know they used to.

That won't happen. When you buy a seat on JB it's yours. Unlike many other carriers overselling flights. JB charges up front for the seat.

So JBLU will now focus on yield management while it continues its hyper-growth strategy. That should be interesting.

500 Million Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong, Or Can They? While I hate overbooking, the ones who book on 5 different airlines on a fully refundable ticket to guarantee a seat out of town really mess up the system. The other side is a jetBlue ticket is nonrefundable. I don't know which works better but it obviously is not both.
