He was up in Maine speaking about the slow start at PWM, when he mentioned the need for a midwest hub. I have contended they need a midwest hub to better connect the dots. I know they want ORD, but the city can't get past the legal roadblock thrown at them by UAL in order to give some gates to Jetblue. Gary/Chicago International has been thrown around a few times, and they may just give it a try with their 190s to start. If it works, you just may see the beginning of a very large hub.

Incidently, DL pulled their RJs and are now running mainliners out of PWM. I was surprised Jetblue started 4 320s at such a small market, especially knowing DL would retaliate. My guess is they will wait a month or so before moving a few 190s that way.

Lowecur,

Can't agree with you there, bro.....BTV is a much smaller market and we service that city with 4 -320s per day and they're always full......PWM will be okay......I think they should have started with 3 flights per day and then increase as the demand increased, but I don't see them going in there with the 190.......we need them for the BOS-JFK-IAD flights......

LOWECUR, When is DLT pulling the CRJ'S. I was there on tuesday and have 5 more flights to PWM this month.???????? UBA757

Read that over at another board. You could be right, but DL still takes pleasure in sticking it to B6 when they can.

I think David could be just posturing to lite a fire.
Jetblue should have 17 190s on-line by August 17th. The 190 is a great starter a/c in newer markets to stimulate travel at a profit, but the 320 can be quickly moved in once that market takes hold.

JBLUE has not been profitable since the 190's have been in service so I'm not so sure the above statement is accurate.

Jetblue not being profitable has nothing to do with the 190...in fact, it's actually performed better as far as profitablility than we had forecasted......

The big reason for not being profitable was our poor revenue management.....that department has been completely overhauled and there are several banking institutions that are actually forecasting a profit this year for Jetblue.....

Lowecur,

Montreal does feed BTV, but not to the extent you may think.....we get a lot of people from Plattsburgh and other upper NY areas...still the pool of people is greater in the Portland area than Burlington....

Well, there is certainly no lack of available gates in STL. Too bad it's such a sucky city.

Yep STL has alot of open gates. The Rams need to get back on top.

ANY moron who thinks Gary/Chicago is a good idea has NO clue. Gary Chicago is a joke, haha.

Gary, Indiana. Lol People commit suicide trying to get into Chicago from Gary. It's a hellish ride. It's in Indiana.

I have heard the rumor that they may use IND for a focus city to begin with and see what happens after that. Not sure about a hub, though. I could definitely see it happening. Also, a gate agent for Airtran once told me that IND will bee their midwestern hub pretty soon. Then again, these are all rumors.
I guess we'll see what happens......

Big rumors in STL about a LCC coming in and taking several gates. Could be JetBlue or Airtran...

Or F9?!?!?!?!?

I hope it's not us. Not much O&D traffic, yields are lousy, and I think we would be better off going into SAN.

A DEN hub sounds about right......merge with FRONTIER!!!!!

MKE.....not

MCI......pleeeeease

STL.......are you kidding?

IND.......ummmm no.

There's always DSM!!!!!

True, and they say a lot may change once it's completed. It should be finished in late 2008, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah it will be the highest geographical point in Indiana

Frontier has good people. Can't say it would be a bad thing. B6's issue with mergers has always been incorporating work groups.

Seems like the Midwest "hub" would be a real battle.
SWA is everywhere...

O&D traffic can be scarce...

I think this will be a slugfest.

STL airport blows..
MCI geographically seems great but how big a market is that?

Chicago has the people..

BINGO!!!

Jetblue needs to name a midwest hub in the next few months in order to start connecting more dots as the 190 fleet expands. Chicago is the only city that makes sense, and Gary/Chicago is the only viable candidate in the area. I think an announcement will include a grand plan to expand and modernize the facility along with safe and reliable mass transit to Chicagoland.

The only thing that could change this is a judges ruling in favor of the city to tear up UAL leases at ORD. But then that would be appealed and Jetblue can't afford to wait another 3 years.

Didn't WN draw snickers when they said they were going to ISLIP?

Frontier and JetBlue is much closer to a reality than many know! And flying the E190s' to the resorts is one of the key factors beyond just connecting big dots.

Without a contract protecting employee rights in the event of a merger, why would that be a problem?

really?

How much did your contract protect you ?

My post was leaning more towards attitude than merger language.
