Here's an idea that I cannot get rid of, but perchance this forum will do that for me. Having no money, no power, and no position... but realizing that within the ASA pilot community there are enough credit-worthy individuals to provide a foundation from which to proceed to a major financial backer: I'd like to see the pilots make an offer for ASA.

That's right. High finance, corporate structure, continuance of benefits, making sure the ATL gate leases go with the purchase package, and much more are serious issues that perhaps exceed my capabilities.

Which is why I'm throwing this out there. I know we could make something special out of ASA, and I know Jerry Grinstein would entertain a serious offer. I truly believe a grand opportunity is sitting there, and the time may never be better for taking a great step...

Ideas? Comments? (AND YES, I know the old truism that "the best way to make $2 million in the airline business is to start with $10 million.")

Thanks for your time.

Come up with a 10% down payment, then we'll talk.

Sweet, Delta will need about $500 million in cash, and then you will have to assume a few $$$billion in debt. How's your credit? You didn't think we would "keep" the debt on all of those RJs, did you? No way. We bought(or financed) all of those RJs and have options (which cost money) on more, and all that ground equipment, like huffers and external power carts, and tugs, etc. So, maybe you guys can gather up some cash and then pay the monthly debt payments on all of those RJs. That would really help out........(CVG chief pilot told me we had about $8 billion in debt associated with Comair/ASA)

Bye Bye--General Lee

Read Flying the Line part 1. I think that's been tried before and did not work. Also, ask the United guys how that went for them. I think they lost their shirts. Let's stick to flying and let the General solve the money problems!;)

Hey ASApilotboy! I'll contribute my 401K balance if you can find a way for that to work! Are you really sure you want to take over ASA and be under the supervision of pilot-owners?

We need to transfer all that debt back to Delta first though, as they unloaded it on us plus spent the money (2-3mil cash) when they bought us. Oh wait, Leo probally spent that already, with Mr Greenjeans blessing no less!

Too funny.
