need to go to europe may 21-31 (flying out of JFK), all the ticket prices that i've seen online are outrages. i've check expedia, travelocity...
any other websites i can check out?
suggestions would be helpful.....

The wheel well is always an option. It's cheap. Just don't fall out when the gear comes down...

I perfer the baggage compartment, it's warmer and in some aircraft is actually pressurized!

PS: at this late of date you are going to get scr3wed. Sorry.

No matter how cheap Martinair is, avoid them at all costs.

Iceland Air can have some good deals. get on their email list..

Who What When Where Why?

Ok, forget about Why? It's none of my business.

But where are you trying to go?

You may be able to jumpseat on Atlas or Polar but be warned: When they delay a flight it's for *days*. Their schedule is very unpredictable.

Usually when I buy a ticket I'll just go straight to the airline's website and do it myself. I've actually gotten cheaper prices than any of the websites you mentioned.

Here's a crazy thought: Thomas Cook/Condor a German charter outfit operates 767s to Fairbanks, AK and Whitehorse, YT and then goes DIRECT to Frankfurt. It's only 8 hours over the pole and about $600 RT. They start again in late May.

If you can jumpseat to Minneapolis NWA has direct flights to Fairbanks in the summertime.

Like I said, crazy, but I've been known to jumpseat for 1,500 miles just to avoid buying a walkup ticket.

Anyway, good luck.

Disregard

I'm sorry. Low Caffeine Warning.

Cubegirl.

No jumpseat.

Waking up.

Good morning.

Carry on.

Where are you trying to go? Being from there I have gotten pretty good over the years at finding the cheapest tickets. What I do these days is go on orbitz.com to find the best fares. Then I go buy directly on the airline's website to avoid the processing fees from orbitz. Make sure to chose the exact same flights and connections when you do that too.

Here are some helpful hints:

- the more connections, the lower the price (90% of the time).

- traveling on friday, saturday and sunday is more expensive (weekend dares). Avoid these 3 days if you can.

- you can save a lot of money travelling to a neighbor country and ride the train

- london can be very cheap; consider it and take the eurostar to go to france, or vice versa if you are going to one of those 2 countries.

- consider the other nearby airports: PHL, EWR.

- ultimately, if you can't find anything, try a travel agent: have them do the work for you to find the tickets. Ask them the itinerary, then say you will think about it. Call the airlines directly and book. Call back the agent, and say you aren't interested anymore. It's kinda mean, so use it as a last recourse!

Hope that helps,

Buck

1. Go to Google, type in "last minute travel" to find places like lastminutetravel.com and site59.com

2. Grab the Travel section of the New York Times. You can find some low fares from consolidators

3. Stand at the end of JFK 22R, hold up a sign, stick out your thumb, show a little leg

I just tried Us Air from philly to paris and got 500 to 600 round trip depending if you go from LGA or direct from PHL. American from JFK was 1100.

Hey I know what about one of thoes airlines that that are better than all thoes "terrible legacy carriers" out there. You know JetBlue, SWA, Airtran.... then you'll really save, O wait, cant get there from here on them you know, Hmmmmmmm

Try priceline and bid, gotten lucky there a few times!

Oh btw, most learjets cant get you there either, unless you wish to stop three times:)

1) Get "friendly" with the airline guys that frequent this board whose airlines go over the big pond...

2) A few drinks and a day later you got a buddy pass..:D :D

Ok Ok back to the Kobe and Laker show..:D

had some good luck with www.hotwire.com

unfortunately you don't know who you are travelling with and where to connect (if you have to) untill after you've booked.
But they do put you with the well known carriers

Just not fair....The cheapest ticket I could find from ANC-PIH was $645. And that's only from Alaska to Idaho one way.

I would really like to go "behind the scenes" at an airline's pricing department and see how they come up with fares.

Cheers

Black magic and voodoo

Yeah, no kidding. Well it helps to be the only game in town.

If you think that's bad you should try living in the bush or Southeast.

No competition unless you count SF340s, SA227s and B1900s as competition.

Good luck at the new job.

Blindfold and a dart board with prices on it.
