The 411 is DON'T COME HERE!!! If you want to live in our glorious bases of Detroit, Memphis, or Minneapolis aka: Mo-town, No-town, or Snowtown, then have at it!! Otherwise you can kiss your life goodbye. I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to live in two of the most dangerous cities in the US for homicides and violent crime. If you don't want to risk it all by living in base, then get ready to hate this place....big time. The schedules are horrendous. Unless you are in the top 5 in base, then don't plan on making it home till the next day. NOTHING is commutable. Our management (if you can call it that) are the biggest bunch of retards you could ever put in one room. EX: CEO Phil Trenary likes to talk about his "weekly message" which is updated maybe once a month. In fact, when the message is actually updated, it frequently contains so many grammatical, spelling and run-on-sentence errors, you would think a first grader wrote it. People are leaving this place in droves...and there are more reasons for that than I could ever post on here. Don't walk.....RUN from this place!!!! Except for your fellow pilots.....there is not one good thing about this place. There won't be a new contract here before the pilots close this place down and it re-opens as a wholly-owned part of Mesa Airlines.

I agree with this for the most part. Rook and Dumb Pilot are giving the perspective of someone that lives in base, but that's a small group of pilots at PCL. Most PCL pilots commute, and commuting at PCL is the closest thing to pure hell that you can find on this earth. As DTWFO said, you will not be able to commute same day. I commuted for five years at PCL, and with the exception of the first few months I worked there (it actually wasn't that bad back then), I would say that 85% of the time the trip wasn't commutable on at least one end. Around half the time the trip wasn't commutable on either end. That makes for a really miserable life when you're only getting 10-14 days off. It wasn't quite so bad when I was an FO bidding #5 in DTW, but it still wasn't enjoyable. I would stay as far away from PCL as possible unless you fit into either of the following two categories:

1. You live in DTW, MSP, or MEM, or want to live there. If you're willing to live in any of these places, then it won't be that bad.

2. If you have the time for upgrade already and are willing to suffer through a year or so of pure hell to get that 1000 TJPIC.

If you don't fit either of those two categories, then look elsewhere.
