If you can answer yes to the 3 of these questions, than I would say go for the 121 gig.

1. can your wife's pay support the family with you taking a pay cut?

2. does your wife have bennies that will cover your family?

3. is your family life hurting becasue you are not home often?

without the bennies, that may be a touch decision to make because of the kid.. health insurance can be quite $$$ to pay on your own..

if a major airline is your quest, you need to get your PIC time any way possible. It is possible to get hired without PIC and only SIC, but that is becomming very rare.

As the majors begin hiring you will be up against hundreds of CRJ and ERJ pilots with PIC jet time. You don't have to have it, but it sure would help.

If you need health insurance to hold you over, it can be purchased for 3 - 4 month for about $400.00 with a $5000.00 deductible. That would keep you covered for any catastrophic accidents.

If its the right move for you, you will know it and make it happen.

Best of luck!
