I'm a military pilot separating from the AF in a few weeks. I have an ATP and a DC-10 Type Rating. I have a training slot lined up with a regional airline in a couple of months, but would like to build on my piloting skills while I'm waiting for training.

I'd like to become a CFI. I'm looking for a large, accelerated CFI school in Texas or California where I can use my GI Bill benefits. I think that means it must be Part 141-approved.

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

All ATPs won't work

Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately, I know they are NOT approved for GI Bill reimbursement. I wish they were -- there's an All ATPs schoolhouse 45 minutes away from me in Sacramento.

What about Sheble's Aviation in either Kingman, AZ or Henderson, NV? Unfortunately I don't know if they are approved for GI Bill reimbursement, but I do know they have a very quick CFI program, similar to ALL ATPs. American Flyers also has a fairly popular CFI program.

Good luck.

FlightSafety and Airman

FlightSafety Academy in Vero Beach might be a possibility. 1-800-800-1411. I am virtually certain the program is 141. It'll be expensive, but your GI bill benies will soften the blow. You probably can finish in a month and you'll get good training to boot.

I saw where you said California or Texas, but I thought I'd just throw it out.

Airman Flight School in Norman, Oklahoma, isn't far from Texas, and might be another idea.

Hope these ideas help.

I'll second FlightSafety in Vero Beach. I'm VA and will start my CFI after the irst of the year. I just finished my CIME here and I'm very impressed with the quality of training. Plus, the VA rep here works her butt off to get you every dime...she's great!
