I just finished a BE350 initial at SimCom. (Sim and system) Now need to rent a 300/350 for the ride. Do you know of anyone who provides this and what's the estimated cost per hour for acft and instructor?

Thanks and fly safe.

Falcon Capt

Looks like he doesn't have a type cant do an initial type in a level C sim.

I would have made sure I had that lined up before going to training. Hope you didn't have to pay for it.

Yeah, after I posted I looked closer at his profile. I figured that perhaps he just didn't list his type ratings. It is unusual for someone to have 11,000 hours and not even one type rating.

Plus SimCom uses 'Flight Training Devices' not 'Simulators' thus checkrides must be completed in the airplane.

PS - Yes you can do an initial type rating all in a Level C - unless the rule has been changed since 1998 - I had no type ratings and did my BE300 type rating at Flight Safety - 100% of the checkride was completed in the Sim. However, since it was my first type rating I had a limitation on it that I had to complete 25 hours of 'Supervised Operating Experience' with an appropriatley type rated PIC with me before I could act as PIC.

FYI, have various type ratings including BE200 (we fly it over 12,500 in military) And yes, the SimCom taining was free (my fav 4 letter word) which got me recurrent in the 200 but their "sim" is a FTD (no motion), therefore, no type checks for the 300. Appreciate your ideas/comments.

Fly safe, all.

Gotcha, figured it was something like this...

And remember, FREE is GOOD!

Hey cart, you didn't say where you're located, but the only operation I can think of here in the Rockies with a BE300 is Access Air in Boise.
Looks like they get $1300/HR, but that's for 135 charter.

www.accessair.net

Good luck.

Avcenter in Boise

Access Air doesn't have their 300 on their certificate anymore; the airplane is for sale. But Avcenter (in Boise) has a 300 on their certificate; I just started flying there. (208) 433-0991. It's a nice airplane.

TRBo,
Thanks for the lead. Sorry to see you're furloughed. Let's hope that UAL stays afloat for all of you folks. Nice you landed a flying gig. I'm in DCA/IAD/BAL area and flying jobs are tough to find. Good luck and fly safe.

I'm at FSI Wichita right now for the 300 type. 100% in the sim. Someday flight dept. managers will realize that you get what you pay for...besides it's not like it's our money.

Hmm, can you rent sim time from FSI or CAE for the purposes of taking a check ride?

You could likely line up a DE at one of the training center locations to conduct the check and pay FSI or CAE for the sim time. Worth asking.

You might even think about asking SimCom to coordinate this on your behalf, as you're a SimCom customer.

Just a thought on a different angle to approach it from.

Good point. I ASSumed the sim outfits would want to sell the whole package, but....certainly worth a call. THANKS!

They have changed that at simcom sence you went. My mom's company used the sim's there for there type-checkride. The single pilot type has to be done in the real airplane tho.

You might. CAE Simuflite has a Level D BE-350 sim. You can do the whole ride in it. I'm not exactly sure about how they would go about setting up the billing for that type of operation. Definetly worth calling on. The instructors and DE's at CAE are top notch.

Not true, I just got the single pilot type in the level c sim at fsi. No restrictions...
