Interesting article.
They got an RA and did what they were supposed to do. RA's (or "near misses, as the media calls it) happen way more then what the media is aware of. How the media gets ahold of this information is beyond me.

Happened to me twice in one day... where's my news story? :)

Sounds to me like the system worked as advertised.

Did anyone notice the TCAS example had GPWS audio? Entertainment trumps accuracy any day and "WHOOP! WHOOP! PULL UP!" is more dramatic than "Climb, climb."

When did Midwest get Q400's?

Better yet, when did Midwest get Q400's with no props? Kind of looked like a mangled hybrid of DO-328 Jet and a Q400. And since when is the resolution advisory "whoop whoop, pull up?"

I know I am being picky, the media always screws something up. It's just fun to armchair quarterback them.

Oh yeah, the term "near miss". I'd rather have a "near hit". Gotta love that media term. "Oh look, they nearly missed..."

Kudos to the Midwest crew for following the resolution advisory.

"you sure lined us up on that approach"

gay

it was more like

"dammit.. i was just about to find waldo.. now i have to start all over again"

I bet the media would be really upset if they knew that this "technology" is MEL- able. Oh and I remember saying to my F/O the other day...how far do you think that guy is from us?..about two Eiffel towers i'd say. Stupid Media.

it was a total miss...they need to change the name of those things

i had a RA just the other day. Damn cessna 172 buzzing around MCO airspace. we almost climbed right into him. didnt see that in the paper. Anyone on the erj notice when the lady says "traffic" , she sounds american? but when the RA comes she sounds English!!

It looks more like a Fokker missing the props. Did Midwest Connect operate Fokker's in the past? Probably an old file photo/image.

PDub? Is that "Shonuff or Bruce Leroy" as your avatar?

neither.. my last avatar was sho nuff. this on is "Williams" from Enter the Dragon . remember,"you look like somethin straight out of a comic book.

Never mind, CBS's version was a Fokker. MSNBC had the Q400 as the D328.

OH, that was pure humor, on so many levels! A great laugh!

Fantasy airplanes, bunny hopping maneuvers, Eiffel Tower, deep and thoughtful responses, dramatics!
