Drudge is running a lead on a near-miss on the runway at LAS last Thurday. America West and Air Canada- about 100 feet seperation.

Anyone hear anything, or is this typical media hysteria? I hadn't heard of any serious runway incursions recently.

Look for the Adam's apple! (if it's dark you need to use FAA approved off-center viewing)

Shouldn't it be 'near hit' not 'near miss'?
Yea, a near miss is a lot like a "non-event".

No, a "near" miss represents that the aircraft passed "near" each other. Its a catagory of a miss that is considered critical.

As opposed to what might be called a "far" miss which happens all the time.

A "near hit" would mean they hit.
