We will be flying down the coast from Okracoke, NC down into Georgia (Atlanta). Anyone know a good restaraunt we could stop in at (preferrably with 3000' or better RW)

It's a short distance but if you get a late start stop at ILM and get the crew car and go to Whitey's. Close to the airport and a parking lot full of cop cars so you know it's good.

If you go into PDK, there is a pretty good restuarant on the field next to the ramp.

weekendwarrior...

Try Rutherford County-Marchman Field (FQD), north of Spartanburg. Cool little eatery right by the ramp. Good ramp service, pretty terrain, and good eats. Don't forget the banana pudding for desert.

Out...

weekendwarrior,

3000 ft?!?! Didn't the folks at Mother Rucker teach you that helicopters can hover ??? It's a really neat trick, actually.

Oh, I see. You're a gun-bunny...never mind. 3000 ft should be enough....:D Maybe 3500 is more realistic, though. Yea...3500...

I'd recommend the place at PDK, too. Park at Epps. It's the Downwind Cafe, I think.

fly into Morehead City/ Beaufort NC,(MRH) and go to one of the water front seafood places. I suggest the Sanitary Fish Market.(Its a sit down place- name come from a long time ago before refrigeration was common- name was designed to instill confidence)

Alot of famous face photgraphs on the lobby walls. Reasonable prices and large servings.

that reminds me of a Clinton joke from the Monica era....

Where is Bill Clinton going to retire to after leaving office?

Morehead City of course.

I think some of you guys need to look at a sectional. :)
A few of these places are nowhere near a line between W95 and PDK.
Stanton's BBQ is nice, but it is hard to find. It's also only 2200' of turf runway. Probably not too fun with a C310.

Yeah, I was hoping to find some places along the coast. We are going to be traveling down the coast from NC to Georgia, then west bound towards Atlanta.

It's only 4nm out of your way to stop at MRH, assuming R5306A is not active, you can go direct W95 to MRH. Even if you go around R5306A its not that far, or you can stop in New Bern NC (KEWN)- you'll be flying near New Bern if you go around R5306A.

One time when I flew in W95- Ocracoke the first business on right as you walk to the village rented bycycles cheap and let us leave them at the airport. Its about a 12-15 walk from the airport the the bike place. This was a while back so not sure this is still good info.
