I would watch how much you push employers these days. There are 10,000 pilots standing in line to take your job-at present pay.
I don't like it anymore than you do but after being out of work for 5 months, my values have changed. It's sad but true...

There are reputable companies that don't see the situation as a supply and demand issue. First class outfits, and even some not so first class companies still see it as advantagous to keep and retain current employees. And infact will/do subscribe to current salary benchmark salaries.

Great point Ultrarunner, first class companies are always going to have a stack of resumes. That's why they're so desirable and the compensation package is one of the factors that makes a job desirable.

First class companies have never had a problem finding pilots, but they will also not use that advantage to screw over their own pilots.

The companies that couldn't find pilots a couple of years ago are the ones that no one wants to work for anyway (i.e. old Lear 25 charter outfits, piston cargo). Now that our fellow pilots are out on furlough, they have 10,000 resumes that they can screw over again. Rest assured though that when the economy picks back up they will again be looking for pilots.

NBAA

Thanks for the posts. If you don't ask you'll never get it. It's tough being the lowest paid employee that talks to the chairman on a regular basis. Best of luck to all those that are displaced.

Well, er, actually we, humm, hide the salary survey from the upper management type.

We are paid a bit above what the salary survey show, even taking in economical area.

Survey

First, it is pretty easy to get on the mailing list for the magazine for FREE and it has this in there. Not that hard to come by.

I do not know if it still holds true, but I found the survey pretty unrealistic because it was slanted so much to NE based multiple aircraft flight departments. The single aircraft company in the Midwest was much much lower when compared to both coasts.

con-pilot, that's great!!!!!

I'm not quite that bad, I just highlight the pages (Total Compensation- Maximum, page 47) that I want HR to see then take the survey back with me.

Publisher, I think you are thinking about the Propilot magazine survey. That is trash, the numbers on it are way off base (generally way too low!). The NBAA survey is a 226 page "real" survey that is pretty accurate, but it also costs $$$.
