Anyone know where these requirements can be found? The CJ3 has just received it certifaction and it mentions NBAA fuel requirements. Are these guide lines that are suggested or are they backed by the FAR's somewhere & how do they differ from the FAR's.
Basically if it's a part 25 airplane they figure a 200nm alternate. If it's a part 23 airplane I think it's 100nm. Not sure what category they are putting the CJ's in for their figuring though.
Get hold of a copy of Business and Commercial Aviations purchasing and planning handbook. It has a explanation in there.
Been a while but I seem to remember, it means the range you have flying to your destination at most efficient speed with not more than 2 step climbs, a flight idle descent into destination, shooting an approach, going missed, holding for 5 minutes at 5000', then continuing to 200nm away alternate and landing with 45 minutes of fuel, no wind of course.
In other words it's more like a "real world" range than what the manufacurer claims.
