There are dozens of NASCAR operators in the Charlotte, NC area. Most are around Concord, Statesville, and Hickory (mostly Concord I think). Do a search on here you will find a lot of good info from the past year.

Somewhat of a thread hijack, but I saw Penske's new CRJ-200 at the CKB Bombardier facility a few weeks ago...that would be a sweet deal!

They are always looking for pilots -

Roger thinks everybody's work ethic needs improvement;) . I'm just being facetious; Penske works hard - consequently everyone around him works hard just trying to keep up with the schedule he sets for himself.

Penske keeps his G4 and 2 of his Lear 60's in our Hangar in Pontiac. I know the chief pilot for his flight department. They will be looking for pilots shortly.

From what I have heard it a big rotation of pilots at Penske. Like GV said he works hard and expects his pilots to work hard also.

I fly a Citation for one of the drivers and manage two other airplanes for another team. Also manage a Citation for a developer that I can drop back to in case my Nascar gig goes south. Like the previous poster, I was worried about job security because my driver lost his ride at the end of last season. Fortunately he rebounded and is set for 2004. But there is always the question about next season. This is not a job for the faint of heart, but it beats the he** out of flying for my former airline.

It's a great opportunity if you have the qualifications, but there is not a lot of turnover. You have to be here (Concord, Statesville, Hickory) or you will not find a ride. Nobody gets hired who is not living here. I've filled all of my airplanes from acquaintances and guys working at the FBO. Not a great deal of long term job security. Get hurt, get released from your team, or lose your sponsor, and there's a good chance you'll lose your job.

Great schedule and great people, though. I much prefer flying the driver rather than flying the team. Much more relaxed flying.

Could it be.......

Burton didn't lose his ride, just doesn't really have a full time sponsor for this season.

Both Benson and Park were let go at the end of the season, and both found rides in either Busch or Trucks for this season.
