Hey Guys and Gals,

I have a buddy who's got an EMB-120 type. We heard there are some EMB-120's flying around with NASCAR colors.

Any idea who's aircraft or certificate they are? Additionally, anyone know who might be operating EMB-120's in non airline service...i.e. freight, corporate shuttles etc?

Thanks in advance,

HH

Dale Earnhardt Incorporated, I normally see 2 Emb-120's at the Daytona 500.

I think Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has one or two as well. They were based in Winston-Salem, NC the last time I saw them.

RCR has one at EXX in Lexington (shop in Welcome, NC) in addition to the King Airs and a 1900. Rumors are a Hawker is on the way. Tough nut to crack unless you're local and hanging out regularly to get known, though.

I got these off of landings.com database for E-120 owners. There might be more. A lot of banks are listed as lienholders.

BILL DAVIS RACING INC
300 OLD THOMASVILLE RD
HIGH POINT, NC, 27260-8189

RCR AIR INC (Childress)
PO BOX 1189
WELCOME, NC, 27374-1189

CHAMPION AIR LLC (Earnhardt)

MOORESVILLE, NC, 28115-8245

Hi!

Do you guys think many NASCAR people would want to charter a DC-9 aircraft configured with 2-by-2 all first-class seating?

I know some of the teams fly in a number of small aircraft to fit in a whole team.

RCR already has the Hawker for over a year and the Saber is on the market. Wish they would add one or two aircraft as I live about 15 min. from the shop and looking for a job. Mobs

RCR has (2) 120's and the got rid of the deathstar for the Hawker. Base is EXX Lexington NC

The Chief Pilot is Jim Metz

I don't think they are looking for any help. I've been trying for two years to pick up some day rate fillin with them. No luck so far

Just for everyone's info, Bill Elliot Racing had the first corporate E120 in the USA in 1998. Kept it for about one year. I flew it for them for awhile. Cool job especially if you love racin' !

Also, Rousch Racing has 2 B727s, at least they did last year. So, perhaps they'd be interested in a DC9. Perhaps you ought to send the race teams a flyer with your proposal.

There's also one in Hickory, NC. I thought Elliot had a hanger there. I don't think it's his though. I was told it was for a NASCAR team but can't remember which one.

I also see an EMB-120 parked at Aero Industries in Richmond, VA quite a bit. This one is not as clean as the one in Hickory so my guess is that it is flying frieght.

I believe theres an outfit out of Springfield-Branson Regional (KSGF) converting misc. pax props into corp/cargo. When I was there in June there was 4 ex ASA EMB-120s, along with a Northwest Skylink Saab 340B and some unmarked metros, along with an ex ASA ATR and a ton of dash-8s (ex US Air).

I dropped off an EMB last year at winston/salem airport in North Carolina. The mechanic that drove us to the hotel said it was for the Earnhardt's.

Continental Express sold 2 Brasilias to the Earnhardt team I believe. I forgot which N numbers they were but I'm sure they have been re-registered anyway.

nascar scuttlebutt

heard thru the vine here at NASCAR AF HQ (KJQF) that most owners do not want large jets due to:

a) if it goes down they lose all their teams instead of one;

b) most teams do not like each other and fights regularly happen. of course add alcohol to the mix after a race on the flight home to add to the emotions.

any stories associated with b out there?

also, anybody know that randy moss flies his lear 35 into kjqf a lot?
