Everytime I've seen a Polar Air Cargo 747, there is always a name painted underneath the Captain's side window, and I also believe the F/O side.

I've always been curious about what it took to get your name on the side of the aircraft like that. Is it the pilots names, long-term employees, what??

When I worked for Polar (1998), they painted a name of an employee underneath the cockpit windows. Each time it went thru "C-check", a new employees number would be added. I believe it was based on seniority with the company and not limited to flight crews.

Any "Polar Tigers" out there to confirm this? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
