WOW...got to fly the 172RG this mornin for the first time...to actually fly it...been in it, but not up front.

Anywho...wow...I want one.

I want one with a bit more power though...and two engines...oh oh and K-Ice...and all glass....something like a Citation X or...well yeah...a Citation would be nice.

Anywho...couldn't believe how easy it was to fly. Can't wait to get at 'em again at noon...

This plane was SO much easier to do a lazy eight in than the 152...it's amazing...it's actually got enough nuts to get out of its own way...

I never thought it'd come so quickly (hehe that's what she said).

Anyway...just had to share...I'm bursting with glee...and now off to pee

That glee is what I like more about flying than women. But then we do need something to do when we get tired of flying don't we.

Your officially a gear monkey now! Congratulations!!!

What size engine is busting out from underneath that mad 172RG?

If its the same type i flew it has the huge 0-360 with...hold on to yourself....thats right 200 hp

180hp if im not mistaken........in mho i think the RG is a piece....of crap

The gutless RG is 180hp but engines can be configured differently, turned faster, slower and derated to change horsepower quite a bit.

The IO-360 in the later Arrows is 200hp

The Sparrow Hawk 152 conversion is still an O-235 but with higher compression pistons to make 125hp.

I don't like that plane. it looks like is going to fall apart any moment, never flown it and hopefully never will.

You sound just like my mom ;)

You're right on the hp...and probably on the POS...but...

When you've been buzzing around the pattern in 152s (108hp) for the past 4 months, this feels like a jet when you accellerate on Takeoff...

a little nose-heavy, but I'll deal ...

The 172RG... Ha ha ha.....Seriously, I know the feeling.. that first RG airplane will always be burned into your memory.

As for you avitar, I have to say it... I know that those are the Olsen twins, but it looks like a before and after shot... after a shot of some hot hair gell...

heh heh heh...there's so many ways I could go with that comment... heh heh heh...

I know it sucks but I had to shrink it to fit...

Yeah the RG is a POS, but....it's nice to fly something that gets above the white arc for a change.

My next goal is to get in something that gets above Vle or Vfe LOL

When I was about a 200 hr Private pilot, a salesman friend gave me a demo in a Brand Spankin' new Turbo Arrow. Took it up to ten grand and then pushed it over and ran it up about 15 kts above Vne, on purpose....

I never rode with him again after that.

that RG isn't a bad bird, primary trainer for alot of Commercial Pilots and when you first get in it you actually feel like you're flying an airplane when you get "nudged" back into the seat, not like a 152 that bounces you down the run way like rocks in a tin can...have fun man...

Its okay, but the rudder is the size of a pubic hair...I would have thought being heavier it would be a bigger rudder...oh well...just somethin to get used to.

Naw. Cessna just realized that once they put the little wheel up front, people weren't using the rudder any more anyway. ;)

Ha...go TSTC! I know you graduated, but did you hear that somone had a prop strike in one of the Mooneys last Saturday?

I did hear about it. Sucks, the mooney has the porpus effect if you dont land it just right. just glad to hear no one got hurt. who is your instructor there i might know them?

My instructor is a new one who just came on board, so you wouldn't know him.

I think a factor in the incident was that on the runway he landed on (I forget which one, I think 35L) he landed where there is a 1" raise in the runway where two different sections of the concrete meet. Apparently he touched down in front of that lip.

Minitour, wait till ya fly the mighty 182RG, then you'll see what I mean when it will fly with a ton of ice on it. j/k.

You'll love it though, it climbs like a bottle rocket with 1300lbs of weight in it and cruises at 180kts at altitude with the turbo 156 without, not bad on 13 gph.

On some days, like yesterday, I had 1/4 tanks flying to OXI to fill up for 2.33/gal with just me in it. I was 85 degrees vertical at whatever ft/min to 3500 ft, man was that a rush!

As far as the Mooney, the prop sits 8 inches off the pavement, what do you expect?
