(From ANN) Everybody Makes Mistakes

MD-80 With 111 Aboard Lands on Sea-Tac Taxiway
The taxiway is parallel to the runways, and runs the full 9425-foot length; and, when American Airlines Flight 1763, enroute to Sea-Tac from Dallas nearly two weeks ago was looking for RWY 34L, it found the taxiway, one notch over.

The taxiway was not occupied at the time, and no one was injured; no damage was done to the airplane, or to the concrete; but there's some new black marks at the south end, uncharacteristically dark on the taxiway's light-colored concrete.

American Airlines spokeswoman Tara Baten would say only, "We're doing an investigation. There's not much else I can say about it."

A quick official look at the runway and taxiway markings, after the incident, showed that there wasn't any problem with the markings...

I've seen this kind of thing happen to GA pilots from time to time. It's just hard to believe that in this case, two pilots at the same time made the same mistake.
