Well, I'd much rather have 1000 hr guys who will work their a@# off and who want to be there than more experienced "pushing retirement" guys who wait to collect their paycheck every two weeks and do the minimum, and complain all the while.

I'm guessing your buddy got hired into the right seat, it would be pretty hard to be a DC-8 Captain at 22 since you need to be 23 to get an ATP.

get 'em, T

Are Murray Air's DC-8's no longer on a FAR 125 certificate? I knew a guy over sixty that was flying captain for them a few years ago....I assume you could fly it PIC with a only a commercial, or a second class medical (if the FAR 125 Ops Manual allowed it). ATP is only required for PIC 121, and for some PIC 135 operations.

would that be temporary flying for the Dec. Christmas holiday, or permanent?

Probably permanent with UPS ready to violate the Menlo scope and would probably keep Murray on as relief to any job action.

Flamebait. Everyone move along, nothing to see here.

I flew for murray in 98-99. excellent company to work for. the people are great. the pay was not great them, but it is now. you'll make more money there than any regional fo.

As far as ATP goes you do not need one to fly 135 cargo, you cannot carry any jumpseater. I did my type w/ murrays as a commercial casa 212, then about 1.5 yrs. latter I did my ATP.

if any of you are looking to finish up college a lot of us went to EMU or wayne community college working for murrrays full time is a great time to do it
