How much does multiengine renter's insurance usually cost?
How much experience in multi equipment do they usually require?
What are some good insurance companies to get coverage from?
(besides AOPA and AVEMCO)
I have not found an underwriter that was willing to cover multiengine renter's insurance.
Your best bet is to try to convince the owner of the rental to include you as a named insured on his policy.
There may also be some state regulations that make you part of the owners policy by renting (MN for example does this). The problem though is that it only applies in the airspace over that state (while the airplane is not in airspace above MN, I am no longer a named insured).
I'm trying to rent a twin at a new school.
I have about 40 hrs in the same type.
I only need a checkout (1-3 hrs dual), but will not be able to rent it unless I have my own insurance for it.
The only way I can waive the insurance requirement, is by getting the MEI with them.
Just thought I would find a way to get insurance instead of taking the MEI course with them.
I guess I'll take the course if I have to.
