Hey everyone, I have approx 160 hours so i need about 90 more hours to get my commercial rating. Can I start my multi-engine rating right now and apply that time twoards my total 250 instead of getting all my 250 in single engine and then get a multi add-on?
Thanks for the help
Chad

Yep, thats what I did, but beware: you will have to take another checkride for your ME commercial addon if you do the commercial in SE.

so you are saying that it would be better to do my multi now and have that time be put twoards my comercial rating? and then jsut do the checkride in the multi?

You're going to need to build your time up, so it really doesn't matter if you do it in a twin or single. If you add a multi rating to your private cert. then you'll be able to log all the multi time after that point and during your commercial as PIC. You can/will then add the single engine land to your commercial, if you do your initial commercial in the multi. Or you can fly a single up to 250 hours (much cheaper) and add the multi rating to you commercial after doing an initial commercial single. It takes an average of 10 hours to add a multi rating to a single commercial cert. If your pretty confident in the single now or not starting your instrument and can afford to fly multi time, then add the multi rating to your private.

Just my thoughts though.

well, I already have my instrument and I was kinda asking... could I get my multi rating.. then just have that and really dont use it.. but take that 10 or so hours and put that twoard my commercial and then build the rest of my time up to about 230 or so in a singel.. then do the rest in a multi and take the checkride in a multi? So this accomplishes me getting the multi rating building cheap time in a single, but then getting the mulit commercial rating if I take the ride in the multi..
