What a wild ride.. Im in Maple Grove and I guess we had a tornado just south of here by less than a mile.

Anyone else affected?

I have been following that storm this evening, looks as if it will be affecting our state (WI) pretty soon. Looks like it's pretty strong and building at this time.

My wife was on the first plane that got delayed. They were on the runway and then had to exit. According to her, they were to be #1 for takeoff for when the airport re-opened, but during that time, the wind shifted and now they're at the BACK of the line.

FN FAL: What part of WI are you from? I'm from the Dells (originally). Any news on the CCW situation?

i live in south central wi between madison and mke...lived in Green Bay before that since 1980. The CCW thing got veto'd by the goverenor and will be back as an issue in the future after this next election.

Tornadoes, Hail, Funnel Clouds Hit Minn.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A rapidly developing storm system spawned tornadoes, funnel clouds and hail Sunday as it swept from west-central Minnesota through the Twin Cities area.

Tornadoes and funnel clouds were reported in several counties west of Minneapolis, and 72 mph wind was reported in St. Paul. There were isolated reports of damage, including trees toppled in the Twin Cities area, but no immediate reports of serious injuries.

The storms generated hail as large as 1 3/4 inches near Chokio, about 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis.

Scores of Northwest Airlines departures from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport were delayed until the storm passed, 16 inbound flights were diverted to other airports in the region, and Minneapolis-bound flights that hadn't left their departure cities were delayed an hour, airline spokesman Thomas Becher said.

More than 22,000 customers of Xcel Energy lost power in the Twin Cities area.

Separate sets of severe thunderstorms rumbled across southern and northeastern Minnesota later Sunday. A tornado also touched down near Lismore in Nobles County of southwestern Minnesota.

60 miles NW of the cities here and we were getting lightning and a little rain. The cities looks like it got pounded. On the radar on the TV screens at work, it lookes like NW of the cities got pounded too.

The wife just got back from the flight and she said it was real bad. There was a flight attendant sitting behind her (flying non-rev) and she said it was one of the most turbulent in her 20 year career.

I just told her, "It ain't a good flight unless it gets the blood flowin a little."

What's eerie is the fire department has been up and down our road all evening with the lights and sirens on several times...It's not related to the storm, but since I know it's coming it just adds an eerie feeling to it all.

I'm going to go to bed and wake up to a lightshow for sure tonight, this morning. Hopefully, it will all be past here by the time I have to fly in the morning. :)

Where are you out of?

St. Cloud, MN (STC). I am around till the end of the month and then I return home to Madison, WI (MSN).

Someone got stuck above the ceilings this morning somewhere around here too. Center was helping him find a hole down. Took him a good hour or two for the clouds to burn off and get down.

I live in Maple Grove and I was in Coon Rapids when it hit. I was in my truck and got pushed alittle in a parking lot. Really strong winds. You could see some light rotation in some of the bases.

I live in Eden Prairie, and I was on my way back from St. Cloud and I had to drop my mom off in Maple Grove. We were driving through at the same time to tornado was spotted. It was the freakiest thing; dirt was blowing everywhere, and I was just waiting for the scene in Twister, COW!

We stopped in Elk River for gas and watched the storms for a bit. Some of the coolest shelf clouds. As we where just getting into Maple Grove, I spotted the last of the airliners beating the storm in.

I miss the spring/summer storms up in MN/WI. I used to live in WI. Little town called Menomonie (W11). Talked to my folks last night (Sun), they said they were getting some nasty weather there also.

I grew up in Oconomowoc. Ya anywhere near there?
Yea a couple of off ramps west on 94 and a short "dog leg" from there.

Menomonie?
Yea, I been there before, it's a nice little town in central wisconsin. They have two cab companies there, both have one cab each...probably driven by the owner operators. I seemed to remember the one won the super cash wi lottery (250,000) bucks and wound up buying a tanning booth and video rental store. I heard from him himself that his kid was running the show for him and put video cameras in the tanning booth and was caught...I'm sure by the time the criminal and or civil trials were over with, it probably cost him 250,000 bucks to win that lottery.
