I currently have MSFS 2002 Pro, and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to '04. Anything new with terrain, ATC, graphics, etc?


Comments appreciated...
 
I have a pretty good system, 120 gig, 1 gig RAM, and a pretty good Raedon graphics card, so thats not a problem. I was interested particularilly in the features of the program. I actually had it in the shopping cart the other day, but took it out because I didn't know if there were any significant differences...
 
Speakikng of MS Flight Sim.....


Anyone know where I can find a download for a Canadair CRJ (CL65)? Are they free or do you have to pay?

I'm still new to MSFS.
 
If you've got the horsepower to run it, I'd get it. I tried it on my machine but it was to weak for it. After turning all the eye candy off it ran okay, but I like eye candy. I think it could be a decent training aid, insturment wise. (Providing you throw in a yoke, pedals, throttle, etc.)

i think it is well worth the upgrade. the world graphics and textures are much improved, panels are worlds better, the airports all look better with everyone having taxi signs and markings, the weather generator is much better with nearly realistic looking clouds and moving and changing weather FRONTS in real time. for example on a humid summer morning in kansas you can watch in real time as the sky starts clear then some puffy clouds start forming and then full t-storm/anvil fronts are formed with a pelting rain.

has a jepp database of the entire WORLD, a full simulation of the modern Garmin GPS moving maps systems for approaches etc., and more. atc is much better and more realistic and much more...

to me $40-50 for that stuff is pretty nice. runs well on my 2.4 ghz, GeForce 4, 512 RAM computer.

It is a very decent product. I use it as a training aid for IFR students and they love it.

However, it irritates me that you can never go fully IMC. When I set clouds for 200 and vis for 1/2 mile there is no way I should be able to see the ground at 2500' and no way I should be able to see the runway lights 6 miles out. Anyone know whats up with that?

Are you sure you're setting the weather to "local" and not "world? (or the other way around) When you set the weather for local, you are setting it for about a 10mi radius around the airport. When you set world weather, you are setting it for everywhere else...
