Stop listening to these homos! I was born and raised on the N. Side and continue to live in ATL. If you can afford VA Highlands or Midtown, move there. Next up would be Smyrna/Vinings or Decatur. What is your price range? Very cool bars in Decatur and Smyrna/Vinings gets better every month. New condos at I-285 and ATL Rd. in Smyrna will be fun. Many bars, restaurants and young ladies to meet. Good luck.

Yes sir! OVI or Soho on Paces Ferry right off 285 in the heart of Vinings have some very nice young ladies..."flight night" on Wed really brings them out...wine tasting and great food.

Having lived in ATL all your life, where would you recommend looking (N. Side) for the married with kids (young kids) crowd. Safe, good schools, within short call range.

Thanks

I am also looking for a place, prob on the north side. But what are the golf courses like around that area? I was looking into the canongate thing but all the courses are down south. I plan on spending most of my time either flying or out on the links.

Alpharetta is a great area. It has become pricey however. About 500k needed for a nice home but, there are some decent homes available for 350k. The schools are very good. Plenty of shopping, restaurants etc. About a 35 minute drive with little traffic. Problem is, there usually is traffic. When I lived up there it took me two hours to get to the airport on a couple of occassions. Sandy Springs and Dunwoody are nice. Schools are good but, not as good as Alpharetta. East Cobb is great also. Many fine schools in the area. If I were married with kids, I would be in Alpharetta. Sister's kids walk to the elementary school in their neighborhood.

Best golf deal going is the canongate deal. Access to many courses for about 1k a year. Most of the courses on the N. Side are private and cost big $$ to join. If you live in the Vinings area, you are anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes away from the various courses linked to the canongate deal.

Any of you guys got a web address or link for this?

Thanks 800...is it better to take the Marta instead of driving during rush hour(s).

You can catch a bus in Alpharetta at Mansell rd. to the subway or drive about 8 miles S. and catch the subway at the N. Springs station. Which way is quicker really depends on time of day, accidents etc. You might seriously consider renting before buying to see what you think before purchasing a home. If you drive to the airport M-F more than a couple of times, you may want to look elsewhere. Nephews ho to New Hope elementary. Great school in a great neighborhood. I even heard The General plays lunch lady there one day a week!

Other than that the only thing I really know is to stay away from the College Park area. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks

That area is undergoing a lot of gentrification. It could be a great buy if you plan to purchase a house.

It is a great buy for a reason. How are the schools? Avoid the area if you have kids.

True, but he said that he was going through a divorce. I assume he won't have any kids in school? Although Woodward Academy is close by and a very good school.

And just what does Woodward Academy cost? 15k per year? Who said it is a good school? Only kids who went there when I was growing up had discipline problems and needed help. Why would a single guy want to live in college park? Bitches and hoes? Avoid the area!
