More ASA airplanes in 2005!!!!!

Rumor has it that ASA will be getting 32 airplanes now in 2005.

There were 25 originally ordered, but it looks like they will be getting 7 ex Independence Air, CRJ-200's.

Other rumor has it that 17 of the 25 original airplanes will be CRJ-700.

Keep the rumors coming!

The more aircraft, the better!!;)

Relax!

Fellas, fellas, fellas. You gotta relax! Didn't you hear the news? We are depeaking, man. This is going to fix everything. And now that we have Operation Clockwork, we don't even need Departure Coordinators any more. In fact, they are already scarce, knowing that their services are already rarely needed thanks to the magic of Depeaking and Operation Clockwork.
Depeaking! Good for what ails you!

I thought all you say in ATL is, "Copy."

No! It is "Copy Dat" :)

Man and the crap just keeps streaming.....Yeah, depeaking.....I was there last week, what a joke! Can't wait until all of those airplanes show up in ATL....NOT! Just teasing us boys...COPY DAT!

Not to change the subject, But!

How is the de-peaking working? Are we still parking the three in one gate style, or have we changed to the new streight in plan. I also read that 90 something gate manager positions were opened up and each one would be in charge of a gate or two. Did these replace the dep coord or is it the same with a different name?

Thanks, I'v been busy at good old Ft Rucker near Dothan on MLOA and dont get to hear musch about what is going on up there. Tim.

We switched to a "spot" system. You call in range and they give you a spot, 22-47, with evens on the west side and odds on the east side. These spots do not coorespond to an actual gate, and there's one airplane per spot, parked straight in. Not that it's confusing or anything. Suposedly we gained 4 gates or something. This is only at C; D and E concourses are still parked by gate.

Heard from a friend yesterday that has a friend in New Hire class. Skip came into their class and said that we are getting 35 airplanes this year. Apparently they are buying 10 50's from Independance! I don't really understand this due to the fact that Jerry Hates them, I thought they would get more 70's....who know's...But I won't believe it until I see them on property...And, just where do they think they are going to park those things???? No more room in ATL, maybe they will move more to SLC!!!!

Operation "Clockwork" will fix everything - Right ---

It may have been a good plan to increase utilization, but the on-time performace is going to CRASH and BURN!

That said, I do like the new parking scheme. It seems to be safer and I've been getting parked faster than before as long as the space is vacant to begin with.

If we do pick up 10 Indy aircraft, I hope ASA will do something for the Indy pilots in the form of preferential hiring or something.

The smartest thing that ASA could do is what CMR is trying to do. Get E-170s on the property. That airplane is going to blow the CRJ out of the water.

73belair,

You are right on. We shouldn't even waste time on any further 50 seaters. They are a dying breed. The 70s are nice, but the E-170s are far better, first class just to begin with. In addition, if (and I hope we do) we ever get spun off, it will give us a far more of a fighting chance to compete and survive. Go Comair! I hope we follow....

Just finished a 3 day trip and EVERY flight went out on time or early. We even lauched for ATL when they were at 500 OVC (on what used to be a busy time of day) with NO DELAY!! I don't drink the cool aide, but so far so good.....

There were three Indy guys in my interview group this past week and at least one more from the day before. It sounded like they had no problem getting interviews after submitting resumes.

SB was in atl crew lounge Fri. and said that it would be 32 airplanes, rfp 25 plus 7 from GE Capital I guess from indy. He mentioned 17 of those 32 would probably be 70 seater.

If that is true about additional aircraft that is great, however, I'm curious to see how the rumors about the ATR's leaving pans out as well. Sounds like if somebody wants the ATR's, the company will unload them.

As far as Indy guys getting interviews, the sooner your name and paperwork comes across HR's Desk, the sooner you will be in for an interview. ASA would love to pick up as many experienced 121 guys as possible.

Delta was saved from Ch 11 last year by a deal that included money from GE. Part of the deal was that Delta agrees to take up to 12 RJs from GE sometime before November. That's a way for GE to protect themselves from other things that might go wrong in its aircraft leasing business (like Independence going down the drain). Smart, though not necessarily in Delta's best interests.

Yes, that would be the smartest thing for ASA MANAGEMENT to do. However, bidding for flying and taking concessions for airplanes would be the stupidest thing ALPA could do at either ASA or Comair.

Regarding the E-170s. I don't think we (ASA) could physically handle them in ATL. Not enough space for what they need...wing span, jet way etc. I'd love to have those here, but I think logistics will prevent that. UNLESS, we start sharnig existing jetways with big brother.

The rumor I've heard (and I mean rumor) is that we would park them at A and B counourse if we got them (not that management has considered this or anything).

When BH was still a CP he stated that the new gate design could handle bigger airplanes. He also said that it would not be smart to limit the gate to just a CRJ700 as far as the biggest airplane.

For what thats worth.
