I am looking for a model airplane that I can use for training purposes when flight instructing. Any ideas where I can find a good one?

1- Toy airplane- hard to find a simple one. Try the toy aisle of the supermarket.

2- Plastic model airplane- you'll have to assemble it yourself and it's kind of small, but it's a model of the real thing. There is a 152, a 172, and a Bonanza available in 1/48.

3- Build your own out of wood of cardboard. You can make it as big as you want, and you can make movable control surfaces with duct tape hinges.

No, man. He's looking for one of those cool ones they used in Top Gun with the stick up the F-14's a$$. I wish I'd had one of those when I was instructing, no wait, I wish I'd had two so I could simulate dogfighting!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I have no idea where you'd get one of those, but it would have been really useful to simulate Commercial maneuvers and attitude stuff. Maybe one of the AF dudes could on the forum could get you one from the PX, or something.

You should use a real airplane if you are going to teach someone to fly.

Sorry:D
