Using SF3CA's #'s there is a 34% chance a newhire could get an F/O slot. Not bad.

If those SO slots are not filled right now, but instead current SOs are held in place while new guys flow into the right seat, then the percentages could be much higher for poolies.

Thanks for the update 1stCivDiv. Now all we need is the phone to ring telling us poolies to show up for training!

See you in MEM! Hopefully soon! :D

I've got a question about the percentiles. Are the percentiles listed in the results the percent you are when compared to everyone currently flying in the seat, or the percent you are of the dudes that bid the seat on this bid?

How much time do they normally give between the phone call for training and a class start date for newhires? Just wondering if there's time to have a class or two this month. Let's get this thing movin'!

Question, why wouldn't the FO slots go to current SOs? Why do they get bypassed by new hires and get "stuck" as an SO? Or maybe I'm not looking at it the right way. Not a flame at all, just an honest question.

Because the SO's in question didn't bid the seat. Our contract does not permit the company to force someone into an open seat. So if someone wants to stay an SO, for example, to gain seniority or because they're homesteaders (people who's trips begin and end at their 'home' airports) they can't be forced to upgrade. The slots would get filled with newhires and the SO's, since they 'bypassed' bidding an open seat, stay where they are.

Gives everyone a lot of flexibility and ensures the company stays out of your personal preferences.

Hope this helps.

Even if a current SO did bid an FO spot, the company may elect to train "out of seniority" in order to save training cycles. It may be cheaper to pay a current SO passover pay and train him as an FO later than it would be to train him now, train a newhire as a SO, then retrain that same newhire six months later as an FO.

Who knows what they'll really do.
