Possible missle attack against Israel charter plane in Kenya...

Israel Airline Probes Possible Missile 5 minutes ago

JERUSALEM (AP) - The Israeli charter company Arkia is investigating whether a missile was fired at one of its aircraft shortly after takeoff from Kenya on Thursday, an airline official said.

The crew reported seeing a flash of light shortly after takeoff, said the deputy director of Arkia, Shlomo Hanael. No one aboard the aircraft was hurt, he said.

The plane continued along its flight path, Hanael told Israel Army Radio.

The plane took off from Mombasa, Kenya, at 7 a.m., and the pilot saw a flash of light shortly after takeoff on the left side of the aircraft, he said.

Ground crews confirmed that it appeared to have been a missile, he said.

Hanael said more than 270 passengers and 10 crew members were aboard.

Now reporting plane was hit and trying to make emergency landing? Won't be able to pretend that missile didn't exist if so.:( :( :(

Israel Radio says all El Al flights from foreign airports have been suspended...

Israeli plane was hit in missile attack over Kenya, and is preparing for emergency landing in Nairobi, Israel TV says.

JERUSALEM –– An explosion went off Thursday in the lobby of a hotel in Mombasa, Kenya, where many Israelis were staying, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said. Israeli hotel guests said there were casualties, including wounded children.

At about the same time, two missiles were fired toward an Israeli aircraft that had just taken off from Mombasa airport, said Ron Prosor, an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman. The aircraft was not hit and continued toward Israel.

The aircraft belonged to the Arkia charter company. A company official, Shlomo Hanael, said the company was still investigating whether missiles were fired toward the aircraft. He said the pilot saw a flash of light.

The explosion went off in the lobby of the Paradise Hotel in Mombassa at about 7 a.m., Prosor said. The hotel is Israeli-owned, Israeli TV reports said.

"I heard a loud explosion," an Israeli hotel guest, identified only as Rami, told Israel TV's Channel Two. Another guest, Osnat, said there were wounded, including a number of children. Some of the wounded were taken to a nearby small hospital.

Cnn is now reporting that the plane WAS HIT by missile shrapnel by was flown onto Israel, no injuries only minor dmg to a/c

This is the report this morning.

KIKAMBALA, Kenya Nov. 28 — In simultaneous attacks on Israeli tourists in Kenya, a car bomb exploded at an Israeli-owned hotel on Thursday, killing 11 people, and at least two missiles were fired at but missed an Israeli airliner.

Is everyone still going to deny that a missile attack on an airplane is too far fetched? Ironic that we just had a pretty good discussion on this matter within the last couple of days....

It will be interesting to hear what kind of missile was used. If in fact three missiles were fired at the aircraft i doubt they were guided in anyway. Maybe they were rockets. Either way just glad to hear no one hurt on the plane.
