Please don not apply If you don't meet the minimums...

Is all I've read since I demobed. All you seasoned Mil/civ Pro pilots please advise me if I should hold off the app. It would definitely:

A) show my determination and persistence.

B) failure to follow simple instructions!

9/11 stopped flying....active duty tour,..al quaeda transport...

demobilized a few months ago...sorry man..we hired some other cfi (my current employer), good luck. sorry you don't meet the mins..you don't meet recency...your not current,,,,you'll leave when Iraq war starts.

I apologize for my B!tching..just wanted to vent and hear what u have to offer,,I know everyones got it rough.

Sorry that I don't have an answer to your question, but a couple of your statements really set me off.

1: "sorry man..we hired some other cfi (my current employer)."
If you were employed prior to activation, then that employer is legally obligated to give you your job when you return. Not only that, but you're also entitled to any advancements that you would have received based on seniority, as if you had never left.

2: "you'll leave when Iraq war starts." This one is a MAJOR foul. A potential employer cannot discriminate based upon your Reserve or National Guard affiliation. If you've got a witness to this comment then it's a slam-dunk easy win in court.

Talk to your commander, JAG, and employer relations officer -- a simple phone call from them may open some serious doors for you. I doubt that any employer would want the bad press of even being accused of discriminating against a reservist in these times.

Good luck to you,

Zulu

Zulu,

Thanks for the reply and advice.

I was an independent contract CFI for a flight school..therefore I had no re-employment rights...(I sure miss teaching in the twin)

other guys in my boat have figured that before the war started it was all too easy for a company to not hire the reservist because they would PAY for the initial AC training, PAY to train the replaement, and PAY again when the reservists returns.

It makes perfect economic sense for a any company in this depressed aviation industry to not hire the reservist. They have a plethora of pilots (wlking the streets)and there is no or very little way for the reservist to prove discrimination unless they blatantly say it like in my case (they hired me by the way..they were mostly retired military and understood both sides of the coin).

I just wanted to talk and learn form it. It was just so frustrating to stop flying...take a hit on my total time....detract from my learning process,..get passed up by those who were fortunate to stay behind,..miss the hiring for Ameriflight, ACA and other regionals that were hiring...And when I came back to civilian status...I couldn't even qualify to turn in ap application. On top of that most company pages have that animated American flag that says something patriotic like UNited we stand, or we will never forget!

I don't regret my fate, I did my time my sacrifice, and this is the consequence or oprtunity cost. I'll just keep on instructing, apply for UPT and hopefully/ Ideally become a "FRED-EX" driver..C-5 and never have to worry about my duty to the country get in the way of my flying goals.

Thanks Folks!
