I am getting out of the active duty AF and plan on continuing in the reserves part time. I was wondering how the fractionals worked with/around mil leave for times that reservists have to fly a trip with the military. Do they grant the time off easily, and how does it affect pay? (I assume that you are not paid if you are not working) If anyone with CS, NJ and FO could fill me in on how this works I would appreciate it greatly.
Also, what are the typical traing contracts, if any, with these respective companies?

Thanks!
SD

a guy I was in indoc with I think was on the line for about 4 months before he got called up again.

That was over 4 years ago. He hasn't been back to the line since and he's still over in the sandbox or at home on leave.

I think he's been on the line for a total of 4 months in 4 years.

My classmate has been online for 6 months in a total of 5 years.

Reservists

I am ex Flex and presently on active duty from Netjets.

I never had any problem with either company. I gave them my reserve schedule and they build my schedule around it.

Netjets has been very supportive of the reserves, at least from what I can see. There are alot of people on active duty right now from the company.

My wife told me they were sending a Christmas package, that was nice of them.

The company has also been very supportive in any dealings they have had with my wife. (Insurance matters, etc, etc).

I will not comment on the contract, because that is not what the guy ask.

I will say this, wether you like it or not, we are at war, we can sure us all the help we can get. Please consider going to the reserves and continueing your career.

Good luck whatever you do.

P.S. Iraq sucks!

To add to the above, two of my classmates in Indoc at NJA were Guard or reservists. One of the gentlemen was a new-hire and when he asked about arranging for duty weekends in the Guard, he was told that it was no problem, just let them know the dates he needed as soon as he could. The other gentleman was coming back from 4 years (if I recall correctly) of active duty and the company decided to have him go through a new-hire initial so that he could catch up on all of the changes that had occured during his absence. This gentleman was glad to have the opportunity to go through the initial class instead of trying to jump into to the sim for a quick re-qual and then going back on line. So overall, it seems like NJA really treats military people well.

Thank you for the info. It sounds like NJA is pretty mil friendly. How does the pay work with the Mil leave? From what I understand, you are on salary (pls correct me if I am wrong). If you are forced to take a few days off to fly in the reserves, are those days deducted from the salary, or are you required to make up those days during days you might have been scheduled to be off? Just curious to see how a salaried employee will be paid if they must miss scheduled work days for military obligations. Thanks again for the great info. We'll see how long it takes for the contract talk to start in this thread. You have been behaving yourselves so far :)

Also, would love to hear about the other fractionals policies as well!

NJA is real military friendly. Shouldn't be a problem at all getting your military days off if you work there

We got an NJA guy in my C-9 squadron and he says it's easy working the two together. Don't know how he works it for the 17 day dets.

Another question

Say you have a 7 on/7 off schedule, can you mil drop 2 or 3 days of the 7 that you're on, or would you just drop the whole week, which would effectively give you 21 days off?
