Midwest to make announcement today about future plans
Associated Press - May 29, 2007 1005 AM ET
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Midwest Air Group - target of a hostile takeover by AirTran Holdings - is expected to make an announcement today about its future plans.
The parent company of Midwest Airlines has scheduled a conference with industry analysts and investors this afternoon (3:30 p.m.) to update them on its plans.
The operator of AirTran Airways has been increasing and extending its offers for the Milwaukee-based airline. The latest offer stands at about $389 million and expires on June eighth.
Midwest's board has rebuffed all the offers, saying it would be more profitable alone.
But investors are thinking otherwise. AirTran reports that more than half of shareholders have agreed to tender their shares to the Orlando-based company.
