Really...Today the Midwest MEC passed a resolution to rescind their endorsement of management’s plan to remain independent.

That doesn't sound so bad if you could remain a stand alone company. Money and work rules aren't everything.Might have a lot to do with this... what i have been hearing is that one of the stipulations of the TPG deal was that the Midwest pilots had to extend their agreement and cost structure.
I hear the TPG deal also involved Northwest's portion at 40%. Anyone else hear this?
If Midwest is going to be sold eitherway then I would much rather see Airtran as th new owner. A lot of our pilots feel the same way.
Hey FlyWolf...im not calling your a liar or anything but is there any official source for the claim? I was really shocked the way the MEC came out on Sunday so public about the deal. I feel like there is egg on the face of the MEC if 4 days later he turns around and changes his mind.

No the big stink is that the MEH management told ALPA that the deal depended on an extended contract. Then the union finds out that it never was a part of the deal, but management wanted it so TPG could raise their offer if they had to. So, once again, being lied to by the board.
Yes, that is what I heard too and the MEC is not happy at all. I am glad they told the company NO, THANKS.
If the merger goes through, we welcome you and look forward to building a strong pilot union. Bottom line, we all have to stick together and fight for our careers. Best of luck to us all!If Midwest is going to be sold eitherway then I would much rather see Airtran as th new owner. A lot of our pilots feel the same way.
Thanks Eagle, but I think its too late, they sold to TPG for $17 a share.
Yes. And its been done before. How the hell does an outside bidder think they can get the union to give a concessionary contract extension as part of their bid?
Wouldn't that be kind of like asking a car salesman to buy your gas for a year if you buy the car his boss is selling?
