Midwest Air sale clears antitrust review
Midwest Air Group Inc. (MEH) today said that the U.S. Department of Justice has completed its antitrust review of the company's pending sale to TPG Capital and Northwest Airlines Corp. (NWA), and there will be no regulatory challenge to that transaction.
Oak Creek-based Midwest Air, which operates Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect, had planned to complete its $451.8 million sale to TPG/Northwest even if the department had kept its inquiry open, said Carol Skornicka, Midwest Air's senior vice president-corporate affairs. That could have led to possible post-closing changes in the sale's terms, she said.
"It's nice to know there's finality to this issue," Skornicka said.
Midwest Air is scheduled to complete its sale to TPG/Northwest on Thursday.
