Just for fun...

Anyone every greased it on at Midway? Everytime I've ridden in the back they're all hard, and understandably so. Use to fly in there a considerable amount in a Citation and loved watching everyone slam em' on.

Yeah many times, but it only had 6 seats, does that still count? 31L, 31C, 4R, 4L, 22R, and 22L...can't remember ever landing the 13s.

I give myself one quick shot for the grease job and then I plant it.

I got lucky the last time I was there. I had warned both F/A's that this would be like Key West. Power came out and on she went. They both asked what happened to the hard landing? I said I wish I knew. Sometimes you get lucky, the other times you get to fly with me.

Yes, many times.

It helps when about half your T/O and ldgs are there.

It really amazes me how many pilots think they have to drive it into the runway there. I land there just like I do everywhere else. If it starts to float, yes, put it on, but otherwise normal ops! Sometimes I get smooth ones and sometimes I don't!

Many times also. I agree that most of the ones who freak out about landing there, are not based there.

Midway isnt that bad once you get used to looked at the picture. You get one good chance to get a decent landing and then you have to put it down.

I totally agree...proficiency with full flaps landings also helps.

I always use 40. Now with that being said if its "real" windy and down the runway, sometimes I use 30. The flaps have a blow up feature and if you get to fast, you dont want them moving up in the flare.

Flaps 40 is the norm (AFM) for the -800 for runways less than 7000'. However, excessive winds may dictate a flaps 30 so you won't go into "load relief."

MDW looks worse than it is.

Midway...

While were at it...another question for you 73 guys...

How does the 700 handle vs the 300 and 500?

I have greased it on at MDW....but wasn't trying to. My normal strategy is get 'er down and get 'er stopped. Normally use flaps 40, but will do 30 if it is very windy and/or gusty.
