The President is on TV, how about we go to Iraq get the oil and give it to the airlines and anyone who lost their job due to 9-11. Makes perfect sense to me. Dennis in Chicago

I'm trying to grasp the point of your post.

Would you elaborate on your observation, and draw a conclusion from the text of the President's speech?

Timebuilder,
i was just thinking about all the trouble in the airline industry and terrorists and thought the simple solution to get our economy going is free or low cost oil.
The President did not touch on the oil aspect of going to Iraq but i sure hope that is what he secretly has in mind.
Does anyone not see the logic of having the Mideast correct the problem they created?

Ah, that's better.

I don't think the aspect of Saddam's oil is any secret.

After we get Iraq stabilized, that oil, which has never been much of a benefit to the average Iraqui citizen, will play a central role in the rebuilding of Iraq into a modern representative republic.

Certainly, the conversion of an official sponsor of islamic terrorism into a peaceful participant in the world will be good for everyone, and a stable supply of crude oil will help all of the world's economies, not just our own.

By the way, the possibility of a REAL election in Iraq, rather than the sham which is being trumpeted in the streets of Baghdad as an affirmation of Sadam's popularity, is a very frightening idea to every arab ruler. Democracy is the best antidote for terrorism.

I gave the benefit of the doubt to those who thought Iraq '91 was about oil. I didn't believe it personally, but I could certainly see how others could.

Anyone one who uses the "blood for oil" argument today is a complete and utter, head-up-his-a$$ moron.
