Hi!

Corporate is really tough.

If you're intersted, I can fill you in on USA Jet. 5 major furloughees. 3 NWA, 1 UAL, 1 Delta. Actually, one of those isn't a furloughee. He took a leave of absence to come back here.

Are they still hiring? I'd prefer the corporate route but at this point, since I was just furloughed, I'm looking into anything.

Michigan lost 24,000 jobs last year, job creation in Michigan is not going in the right direction, either is the housing market, declining prices in all markets.

Yip,

do you think its all auto related??

I have realtives out there and it seems Michigan is in a real rut. They like the current governor (Granholm) but everything I read and seen makes her out to be a serious loser..keeping MI down.

Im sure auto sector is beating the state bad (and your business), but even a few years back things didnt seem great..

just curious.

Yeah;

The govenor seems to me like the last democrat govenor in Michigan.... Blanchard. Just about demanded that all business in the state get out unless they agreed to paying higher corporate tax rates. Guess what...some did just that.

G200, she is a populist governor, one who promises things to get votes. It looks like she wants to maintain the status quo in gov’t pay outs and not shake up any of her constituents by moving to a pro business stance and cutting taxes on business. For example she tried to copy the New Jersey auto insurance disaster of the late 90’s to fulfil her promise of lowering auto insurance rates in the city of Detroit, but was thankfully stopped by the Michigan House

Check out USA Jet if they are still hiring. its like corporate with no people.

I wish they would do something about insurance. I have an additional line item every 6 mos called "MCAA Assesment" of $71.50 per car.

This is from my insurance website-
"The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) was established by the Michigan legislature to pay no-fault claims over a threshold amount. All no-fault insurers are required to participate in the MCCA and are subject to assessment by the MCCA to indemnify the excess claims of other member insurers. Insurance companies typically pass this assessment to policyholders."

Yeah you can thank Granholm for that one. Right up there with that wench Hillary.

MCCA is a classic example of a good idea gone bad. If the MCCA gives out too much money, then they can automatically raise your auto insurance. I have three cars and pay over $300/yr into MCCA. From what I understand there are no limits on what a person can be granted in a claim. To top it all, off when the Governor complained about Michigan's high insurance rates, she never mentioned the MCCA burden. BTW USA Jet is not hiring, no one is going anywhere.

Hi!

MI, like almost all states, could dramatically improve it's insurance situation for everyone.

You stop letting insurance cos. deal with individuals.

You add a "tax" to every gallon of gas pumped. The state contracts with whichever insurance cos. to insure all driving in the state.

-No more uninsured motorists-everyone buys gas.
-Insurance costs for people like me go down, because I don't have to pay extra to cover myself against everyone driving around with no insurance.
-If you don't have much money and a small car, you don't pay that much.
-If you spend a lot of money on a gas hog, you can afford to pay more insurance
-If you only drive to church on sundays, you don't pay much
-If you drive a lot of miles you pay a lot more. This encourages people to buy more fuel efficient cars, with lessons money the terrorists get, reduces the increase in global warming, and less polluting to our local environment
-No more hassle with "proof of insurance". If you are stopped by the cops now you don't need insurance, just "proof". If you don't have proof, even if you have insurance, you're in trouble. If you live in WI, which doesn't require any auto insurance, the MI cops are completely confused.

PS-RH: I thought there would be a class in Mar? We are losing guys to the -9, and they'll need more for next year???

Michigan does suck. It's almost impossible to get a job anywhere here. I've been furloughed three times and have tried to get a normal job in a different field, but no one will give me the time of day. Last furlough I went nine months without work. Everyone wants job specific skills even though they're going to train you. I'm talking about no-brainer jobs that anyone with a college degree can do. You would think that since I can learn to fly a jet, that I could learn to do other things. They don't think I have any other skills from flying even though I point them out in my resume. They also think I'm going to go back to the airlines if they call me back(even though I over-emphasize to them that's not my intentions and that I'm trying to support my family). I would love to still have a flying job, but after three furloughs it's tough.

Try "The Company Jet" aka Northland Aviation out of Grand Rapids. A frac with about 2- Excels. They were hiring as of 1 week ago.

Also you will get to sign up for welfare when you take the job. The pay sucks and always has.

Jurasic, was that an offer to buy my 91 Ford Escort Special Edition Classic airport special for $300? It is worth alot more than that I would not take under $325. BTW you have to park it on a hill or push start.

From what I was told, they will start an FO in the 30's but will not help with any moving expenses which is hard to cope with if you are only starting int he 30's and having to pay $5000 to move.
