Any freight guys see the bright show at 3:00AM last night over the NW? It was on the news today and all they had was surveilance video of a parking lot getting lit up light day light. I guess their trying to find out where it went? I'm sure it would have been quite a show from up in the air.

It figures. I had been working the late sims, finishing up the de-brief and the grading at about 0130 for the past two weeks, and had been up (and sometimes about) at 0300. Then this week, when I'm back on the 8 to 4 schedule, doing very little in the office, I'm not up to catch it. Man, I wish I had seen it!!

Well I wasn't flying, but i was up and went to let the dog out, just as i opened to back door the sky just lit up, almost brighter than daylight, and there was a ball of fire streaking across the sky. It scared the sh!t outta me. I didn't want to call 911, so I called 1-TV-TIPS-KOMO (local news staion) and they told me the news station was getting flooded with reports of it. So at least I wasn't crazy.

The annual meteor showers in August that can be seen so well in Arizona provides me with a story. It was that time of year, and I decided to go flying in my C-140 to see them out away from the city. Didn't see any the entire flight away from the city lights. Started to come in from the Casa Grande (CGZ) area, and low and behold a meteor streaked down in front of us. It burned up before it hit the ground. It was so bright I could have sworn it was 1/4 mile in front of us. I know that distance perception is jacked up during the night, but put it this way, my night vision was gone after I saw this thing burn up. It burned up just below our altitude of 4000 feet MSL. To freaky.

The world is coming to an end, I tells ya!
