Last week Mesaba had a shareholder meeting. Our union organized picketing out front of the meeting plus about 25 pilots attended the meeting.
Well guess what, being a shareholder you are aloud to speak at the meeting. Here is what one Mesaba pilot had to say.
"I am a loyal 18-year employee of Mesaba. I am not a union official, but believe that I speak for the pilots when I say we are embarrassed for our Senior Leadership Team.
You have created an infrastructure and process envied by our competition, but forgotten the employees who make it work.
You have reaped the benefit of corporate profit taking substantial raises and bonuses while crying poverty and mandating concessions from employees who have already gone 3 years without a pay increase.
You have purchased a failing airline in Big Sky whose monthly losses alone would finance significant improvements in our expired contract.
You have sold our trust.
All the Senior Leadership Team’s accomplishments will be forgotten when the pilot’s are forced to strike because of your failure to bargain in good faith."
This was spoken by one of our most senior pilots. With God as my witness I will shut the doors on this company before I will ever take anything less than an industry standard contract.
By the way Foley adjurned the meeting very shortly after this remark, and all the shareholders had to walk through an informational picketing line being conducted out front of the hotel.
