Look at the date?!?!

I seriously doubt upgrade for a new hire will be in 18 months or less. I think the most junior captain right now is 7 years. But I guess it'll depend highly on attrition.

People keep bringing up the fact that the upgrades right now are 7 years, but that does not dictate at all what the up grade will be. I know this is fictional and could never happen, but if Mesaba got 100 airplanes tomorrow, and if they could put everyone through training at once, boom... 1 day upgrade. It just doesn't matter what the upgrade times have been.

Look at the date?!?!

He's talking about the CRJ900 operating a flight numbered 3690 from YUL to MSP on April 19th, 2007 at the bottom of the page.

Interesting though....because of the MyCrapsaba website our first CRJ900 is recently pictured up on jacks and being prepped for the paint shop.

I know a kid that just got hired with 297tt, 26multi. I know a bunch of others who got hired sub 500tt, again 20-40multi.

Is PCL a better choice? That depends on the person you are. If you are a Backpack toting, revos wearing, slickback gel hairing, thinks being a pilot will get you chicks then please go to PCL we neither want you nor are you welcome. Safety is a culture here that took 60 years to create. Anyone of the above traits puts that in danger. FE, BH, RL, BJ, JT, SK, and others have worked very hard to weed out the above type, so please save yourself the trouble and move on if this is you. The day I was hired I was told they can teach anyone to fly it's the 23+ years of upbringing that can't be taught.

Man, you are an a$$. Those statements do not reflect the majority of our pilots. They do reflect many of our 300 hour wonders, but not the majority. Besides, who do you think mesaba will be attracting when hiring goes full swing. The individual you describe will be at mesabe in large numbers because that is what you will have to hire to fill classes. Hence the 600-50 or what ever low ball number you have for minimums. Not going to get a bunch of class act instructors or cargo pilots with those mins.

It would be pretty easy to tell people not to go to mesaba because of the lifers that won't or can't go any where else. There are still lots of good pilots at Pinnacle.

Perhaps some people could learn a few things from those "lifers" you seem to dislike. Like how to make good decisions that keep your passengers and planes safe. And even how to ocassionally say "NO!" when it's safer to not take a flight. But then again I guess experience is worthless and anybody with a ticket with still wet ink is just as qualified as many of our guys that have been with XJ for over 20 years. It's that core of lifers that keep our corporate culture where it is and attempts to set an example for our new pilots.

Interesting post Ridgeback. I agree with SA. Just who do you think Mesaba is going to recruit? Everyone is going after the same pilot pool. And it doesn't look good. I can't wait to see Mesaba's magic pixy dust when it comes to training these 500 hour wonders. It's not easy, I can assure you. Unfortunately, the Mesaba training department is about to find out.

Nice description of the entire PCL pilot group. By the way, I've seen some goofy looking guys at XJ as well. That still doesn't mean they aren't good, professional pilots though, so I'll hold off on painting with that broad brush.

Good luck on hiring anyone with over a 1000 hours.

I respect the 9E pilot group! One thing about all these 500hr wonder new hires is that most likely they will be flying with 7 yr FO's.
