Just a guess, and maybe wishful thinking....but.....

Management seems to be in a big hurry all of a sudden to have a TA. (Did big brother call the bat phone and tell our SLT to get its house in order NOW).

NWA announced that big $$ is going to Bombardier in a press release.

If new planes are coming, the senior people in SF3 class will most likely go directly to the new plane and not finish Saab training.

This would cause short (o.k. shorter) staffing in the saab, hence the need to delay some routine training to keep the current guys on the line.

Or I am totally full of it and WAAAAYYYYY out in left field. Hell if I know.

The last time I saw that happen was at Independence right before it went down the Bankruptcy toilet. Good luck!

Personnally, I think it's because crew planning thinks 2 + 2 = 29, or at least likes to staff the airline that way. Lot's of Captains but no FO's. Junior manning and canceling flights. It's another way to cover up plannings lack of planning and not place blame squarely where it belongs. . . aka planning sucks at staffing the airline. I doubt they would cancel PC's for a new plane announement. Couldn't get it on property in time to avoid going out of grace, in my humble opinion.

the new plane is already on property.....the crj.....does anyone know where those 15 crjs are that NWA has coming back to them? Where are they going? does it make sense that they could be flying by Xmas is they sent some to training now? i am like the other guy....i am way out in left field and way off base! I know nothing....i just hope for the best, plan for the worst.....thats why tomorrow evening i am getting resume's ready for the job fair. I just hope FEDEX will accpt my resume..........with no PIC Turbine.......oh crap....i am screwed!

Mesaba talks continue for 3rd day

The exhausting work of contract negotiations continued for a third day Friday for Mesaba Airlines and its large unions, and the talks could spill over into this weekend.

"We are meeting with all three unions," Mesaba spokeswoman Elizabeth Costello said late Friday.

In an attempt to reach negotiated deals, the company has refrained from using its court-granted power to impose labor cost cuts of 17.5 percent on its pilots, flight attendants and mechanics.

Management and union leaders Friday didn't reveal details about the proposals that have been exchanged. However, there was an important development with the pilots union.

"The union's executive council has convened in the Twin Cities and will remain in place to confer with the negotiators as talks continue," said Kris Pierson, the union's secretary-treasurer. "We hope that this is all going to result in a consensual agreement."

The executive council is the body that would declare a tentative agreement.
