I will try not to take sides for or against the TA, but as I read this thread there are people pounding their chest that do not fully understand the position we were/are in...

BK, sham or not, on paper it was legal. We were assigned Judge Kishel who ruled in the companies favor to impose twice and ruled it was NOT legal for us to strike. If we won the (imposing) appeal the second time, it would have gone back to Kishel to rule on yet again. The 1113 is an endless process until you emerge from BK.

The fight over concessions was over when the TA was approved by the negotiators and MEC. Yes, the line pilots had a vote, but the overall savings to the company was set in stone...15.3%....Our vote was to approve the TA over where that money came from (vacation, work rules, pay, etc). Had we voted the TA down, they would only have the ability to shuffle where the money came from.

The concessionary TA was an overall savings to the company of 15.3%, but a lot of that was in "soft" money (the multi-class bid was almost a third of the total savings) and one time events, the overall paycut was 5%. Our pay is still on par with the industry and still better than some with comperable fleet types. (Some of which are beating their chests on this thread)

There is a 14.2 million dollar claim. That works out to about $20,000 per pilot that has to be paid on emerging from BK. It will be at the same percentage as all the unsecured creditors (GE, BAE, etc.) Best guess about 40%-60%.

The BK has lasted over a year now, with everything and everyone moving backwards. At one point we had 119 aircraft and 1100 pilots on the property. We are now down to 50 aircraft and 530 pilots. Most of our lost routes and cities were covered by 9E CRJ "growth". This has been a 5 year downward spiral and ALL XJer's have paid the price in one way or another. No one signed on here thinking that all this would happen, but it could happen anywhere, so watch out!!

Outstanding post. I am glad I slogged through 3 pages to read that!

Yes, compare the new Saab rates to others in the industry - most will be surprised.

As an ex-Mesaba guy, I wish you all the best...and by that I mean, I hope you get better jobs ASAP.

Yes, sad but true, it is still well above industry average for turboprop pay which is all we fly now. Also factor in that 25% of the toal concessional amount comes from the 2 multi-class bids we allowed. It sucks we lost a week of vacation for 2007 but when you factor in the profit sharing and creditor claim potential payout, I don't really see w-2 earnings taking more than couple percent hit. A few pilots are really gonna get hit hard by the prescription drug changes. I will still put our work rules up against any regional out there. I am not saying we are the best but we are for sure above industy average. I'm sure the chest pounders who are always talking the talk will still be showing up for work on Dec 1st.

eagle you are a jerk off, we are not asking for anything, oh and I don't need money because I still make more money flying a saab at mesaba than would I at eagle EVEN with my concessionary TA. I'm supposed to liquidate my company because of want you think you might know about the my situation. I'm supposed to liquidate and start over and be a FO for another 6 years because you think its the right thing to do. If I wanted to be an FO for 12 years I would go to Eagle and swing gear for morons like you.

Fact is all you people like eagle need to stop bitching at mesaba or whoever and start at the root of the problem. This ch11 is 100% legal, unfortunately the laws are written in favor of big business. As much of a sham it is, ITS LEGAL. I guess some people think we're supposed to get raises in bk.

Perhaps you should talk to your local congressman and express your concerns with laws that screw unions and the average american joe. I would also tell them that you or anyone in your family will not vote in favor of anyone who doesn't work to improve workers rights. That would do more good than trolling on flightinfo touting your supposed wisdom of the airline industry.

I think Mesaba management should ask for more pay cuts next summer. This new TA makes you overpaid for your worth.

Put your cap on, look in the mirror and be proud to be an airline pilot....................you're living the nightm, ...er, I mean dream.

MAIR stock is up $.12 so far today. I guess the Market likes what was signed.

Good job Mesaba! As usual everyone was all talk and I'm sure all the Mesaba guys we talk to at the airport will say they didn't vote for it, just like every other pilot group. Pilots don't give a s!?t about pay anymore as long as they get to fly. Don't use the excuse you have to support your family because you can't support your family on FO pay there. Who care anyway it's just another pilot group taking another paycut in an endless cycle. What I don't get is why guys waste their time doing informational picketing all the time if they're not willing to back it up with action. It's just an F'n waste of your time of because nobody cares that you're doing it. Whatever.

Yep, $.12 a share is a huge stock rally! A whopping $5.68 a share down from $26.10 (8 years ago).

The stock has been going up and down $.20 a day on average for the last 6 months.

Are you still a cfi? Don't nearly all of us say we will do anything to move up when we are making 10,000/year, just so we can fly airplanes?

I think you are right about info. picketing, though. Mgmt really does not care, and will only bargain when it wants to, or is forced to.

It wasn't ALL talk. There were still many that voted against it. People act like 100% of the pilots caved. It was people who need the job vs. people who don't. I'm furloughed and I certainly DO NOT. Unemployment pays all my bills easily

I've got a fresh (and almost free) ATP certificate and the resumes are going out.

Nope not a CFI just haven't put the correct info up. I'm sure everyone will say I am though.
