Yea we can learn from Rush that if you take pain killers you might get fat and lose your hearing and be turned in by your illegal immigrant maid.

Oh I'm sorry the truth must really hurt you Boiler up to be so offended. Did your daddy pay for your flight time to.

Offended?

You haven't offended me yet by anything you've said. In all your emotional rants on this thread, you have failed to make any logical points and have quickly reverted to ad hominum attacks because you don't have any point to make. If anything has offended me, its been your atrocious grammar. I'm not perfect (I *am* from Kentucky, after all) but DAMN dude...

Nope, daddy didn't pay for my flight time - sorry to disappoint. My parents helped some (and I'm quite thankful for that), but so did Uncle Sam, working 3 jobs while maintaining Deans List in college, and a fair amount of loans from Sallie Mae.

So in closing, let me say I'd be in DTW tomorrow for the picket if I didn't have to work. I support all parts of Mesaba labor as their CBAs have been abrogated by an activist judge who has selectively ruled on the RLA based on a precedent that itself was faulty. And most importantly, voting (D) in this November (or 2 or 6 years ago for that matter) wouldn't have made diddily squat difference in this matter.

Have a nice day...

Your daddy didn't pay but your parents did?
FAR 61.153 says:
To be eligible for an airline transport pilot certificate, a person
must:
(a) Be at least 23 years of age;
(b) Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English
language.

So how did you manage that ATP without having a firm grasp on the English language? Your reading and comprehension skills are weak, considering you saw the part where my parents helped pay for my education but somehow missed the part about 3 jobs while in school, being in the military and having student loans.

And even if my parents paid every dime of my flying & education and I were still sucking on their checkbook's teet, WTF would that matter in regards to your supposed "point"?

Are you an idiot you keep making the points for me.
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuure I do. And what exactly would those points be?

I'm not going to preach about Reps and Dems because I'm neither one or the other. What I am, and what all people are is selfish. Selfish because they want to have lots of money, lots of food, lots of other things that make this brutal life we have to live more comfortable. What political party you align yourself with is whatever party you think will ultimately deliver the things you want to make life better living for you and the people you care about. People refer to this as self interest and when one is accused of looking out for their own self interest it is often out of derision and scorn by those that feel cheated by the "system".

I chose to borrow the philosophy from Thomas Hobbes: In the end, this life is a war of all against all. Plain and simple. You can scream about who's right and wrong and how Little Bush, Spongebob, Kishel or whomever you want to direct your rage against screwed you over, but the bottom line is they are simply looking out for their own self interest and they happen to have the means to accomplish their goals. If you don't like it, do something about it. Be selfish for your own sake. Just stop accusing one side or the other for not playing fair. Life isn't fair. Life sucks. It's brutal, bad things happen, people you love die. Oh yeah, I hate to remind you but you're also going to die too. So why does anyone care about all of this anyway? It's all a bunch of hoopla that keeps us waking up every morning or else we'd just look at ourselves in the mirror and whisper "Now, why the hell am I here again and why does this matter?" before stuffing a hundred sleeping pills into our mouths and going to sleep for the last time.

So do what you want, get what you can, fly for less, strike, PFT, go fly for Mesa, quit flying, sit around and drink all day I don't f-ing care anymore.

Yes you do...you're still posting. ;)

Only on flightinfo.com: A thread about pilots standing up and fighting for each other turns into a thread of pilots attacking each other (yeah yeah, glass houses and all of that....)

I really can't believe how quickly a thread about supporting your fellow pilot can turn into a political rant. I had this die hard one time start going into a rant right before my Saab sign off and it was just totally inappropriate. (I'm not mentioning his affiliatiion on purpose - because, quite frankly, it would be inappropriate and disrespectful.)

BACK TO THE POINT- Go get 'em XJ. If they don't get the hint, yell with one loud voice - CYYYYYYYAAAAAA!!!

If I wasn't now living and working in another country (and having a heck of a time doing it while making WAY more than I could in the State), I'd be there to support you. I do mean it - Good Luck.

Cya,

CP

Like the Gerch once said on a BRD-DVL H.S., "Grab some Marshmellows, boys! I think I see smoke!" Burn it down.

How about some the Gerch stories to lighten up the mood

Come on XJ guys could there have been anyone more famous at Mesaba?

what pisses me off about mesaba is that there are so many stories about how great this airline was......this place sucks now. let me just say this, our unions and the attorneys have been doing a great job.....its like playing a game thats been fixed by the refs......except this time, the crooked refs are the judge and the system which is so corporate bias.

I will say this, a contract is a contract. the new rules are that when one wants to change it, they do not have to wait for the amendable date. to all the carriers out there, if your airline is in profits.......renegotiate.....talk to your government reps about a new law that says you can do this. its only fair....a bit rediculous, but........

Lets see this record defecit you talk about is just great..... the only time we had a surplus was during the clinton years......

Oh I'm sorry the truth must really hurt you Boiler up to be so offended. Did your daddy pay for your flight time to.

I remember the Clinton years, Monica and something about cigars. As I remember it, it was a PROJECTED surplus based on the DOW doing so well. Anyone remember the DOTCOM bust? People starting a website and not making or doing anything, but making millions? There was your Clinton surplus, a big bubble bursting.........and wasn't there something about a stain on a dress?

For all of you who want to act instead of talk show up in MSP, DTW, or MEM tomorrow.

Any body can type now is the time to act

That is right.

Problem is most pilots do nothing until the situation gets critical. Then they call for radical action!

Fact is slow, methodical, patient on going regular activity works best. Not last minute hail mary's.

But it is never too late to get involved. Show up tomorrow. MSP, DTW, MEM. Any and all pilots can attend.

Anyone can type... can you show?

Very true. It isn't just a "pilot" problem however, it is a problem in American society. The coming retirement and health care crises, which contributed to our current airline industry crises, is similar. Most Americans are more worried about who is going to win this years Survivor or the next sporting event, then how we will pay for the retirement and health care of the baby boomers.

When these situations get critical, as is rapidly approaching, Americans will demand radical action. The same is now happening in this industry.

You and I agree that this is a problem, I just don't believe you can change human nature.

I just read 4 pages on this topic.. Why do important thread like this have to get hijacked for political reasons?? Grrr.. Lets get back to the point. Mesaba got screwed, and anyone who can should help out these guys/gals however they can..sympathy strikes included. I personally would be glad to contribute towards a "strike fund" of some sort towards this end.... Enough polititics please.

Proud dude,

I don't think this thread got hijacked, rather I think it is a matter of dealing with the root of the problem. Rez and I rarely agree on anything, but I do agree with him on this issue. This problem didn't pop up overnight, but now everyone wants an overnight solution. IMO, this problem began in 1978 with deregulation. Since that time, there have been at least 5 scope/fee for departure type committees at ALPA and IACP. There was also a NSL study committee within ALPA some 15 years ago. The fathers of brand scope, and the BSIC chairman all came the redtail "family". Now here we are with the hammer being put to Mesaba. If ALPA is really serious about solving this problem, then there will be a solution that crosses company lines. The solution must come from a unified NWA/PNCL/Mesaba.

I think ALL our elected officals let us down on labor issues........reguardless of political affiliation......

This problem didn't pop up overnight, but now everyone wants an overnight solution.

Actually, the problem of Mesaba being enjoined from striking DID just pop up overnight. One judge. Sham bankruptcy. Illogical and poorly crafted decision.

Everything else you're talking about may be relevant to something, but it's not relevant to the immediate problem of a bankruptcy judge deciding that debtor "rights" to reorganize trump the right of labor to use the threat of self-help in the collective bargaining process under the RLA.

The "overnight solution" that everyone wants is not far-fetched. Get another judge to reverse Kishel.

The "overnight solution" that everyone wants is not far-fetched. Get another judge to reverse Kishel.

Depends on how you look at RS. In order to prevent the need for an overnight solution, the trick is to place judges in position that are more understanding of labor.

One reason why this is happening is because we are currently in an anti labor environment, regardless of Enron.

What we needed to do was vote pro labor, pro pilot years ago....

Slow, methodical, patient, organized and group effort beats overnight, last minute, nail bitting, freak out everytime....

I'll stand with Mesaba today!
