The 900 went back senior... Anyone else surprised at how many senior guys that were waiting all of a sudden decided to give up Christmas and New Year's and go in this class after holding out for so long?

well, as training is now, I can tell you I have never had so Many weekeends off since I have been at this company. I would think the reasoning is this, that unless the pilot was senior enough to have vacation over the holiday, and in the top ten or so that can bid the holidays off, traning could mean time at home for the holidays. But this means more for those who are from minneapolis or......montreal...ha ha

Go to training

Hell, I say go to training. I've had more days off than I ever had before. I went to groundschool, then had almost 3 months off, did the sim, and now it's been one week and counting and no call yet. I know something will happen in Dec because I will have to bid a schedule. Can't wait to go back to 900 training.

Guess you haven't seen the DTW Dec bid packet.... Not ONE FO line with weekends and Christmas off... only 4 with New Year's off....:puke:

So much for being senior meaning anything...

Come on, Xmas is in the middle of the week, senoir guys can't have their cake and eat it to every single time. I like it when people who get everything have to "give a little". I can laugh, while eating my company issued lunch box this year.

you mean it's too much to ask to build at least ONE line that has Wed-Fri trips all month so that you get weekends and Christmas off???

There is a line like that every other month

Try to trade something during the 48 hour bid next week. It seems like it usually causes a 30/7 issue, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Good luck with a non-vertical trade to get a holiday off! Might as well buy a lottery ticket, you'd probably have better odds.

Miner,

If you can manage to slap "lifers" tri-focals off before he is able to grap you, I think you might stand a chance. Either way, tangling with an elderly man is a lose-lose. Good luck...

Spartacus, you still trollin the XJ boards?

Figured you'd be to busy counting your canyon blue dollars by now. Hope everything is as good as appears from the outside looking in.

Why is anyone senior an FO anymore? By now they should all be new hires, especially in DTW.

There are at least 3 of us holding out for CR9 Captain. Not sure about the other 10 or so waiting... Probably a couple just waiting til January.

Are they going to base the 900s in Memphis too? Or are they only going to be in MSP and DTW?

Another question for ya SAAB drivers. Do you have many 4 day trips? or are they mostly 2 day or day trips? Also, do you guys have 1 hour or 2 hour call outs for Reserve? and last but not least, Do you guys have Ready Reserve (Airport Reserve)??

Yes there are 4 days, but the majority of trips are shorter. Call out is 90 minutes. There is ready reserve, but it's very very uncommon for pilots.

Last I heard MEM will be getting numerous 900s.

On average for a line holder, maybe 2-3 4 day trips per month. The majority of lines are usually a combination of 2 days, 3 days, and 4 days with the occasional day trip. Reserve callout is 1 1/2 hours to your show time which is 1 hour prior to departure at your domicile. We do have a ready reserve for pilots but is not typically used.

The majority of the SAAB trips tend to be 3 day trips but, the breakdown per "news for the crews" for Dec. is 11% 4-days, 56% 3-days, 19% 2-days, 14% 1-days (sytemwide averages). The lines/pairings are jacked a little due to the holidays.

There is a 1 1/2 hour call out for reserves, then an hour to prepare for the flight...ie 2 1/2 hours from call to brake release.

Yes, we have a provision in the CBA for ready reserves....the last time they used it for pilots though was during negotiations in 2003. They are too short to waste reserves this way.

5....not too numerous. Well I guess it's more than one.

Murf,

It only gets better. When guys say they're livin the dream over here, they're not lying. However, I do still troll the xj boards because I miss my xj family......not the company, just the people. I'm glad to see things turning around for you guys. It's about time. You folks deserve the best. Peace out.....

I once had the ramp tell me the a/c carts don't work when it's real hot outside. I've also heard they don't produce heat when it's really cold either.
