I did a search to find some info....but I am trying to get a poll of sorts from the current guys there so....

Assuming I got hired there (Ive got 121 time so Im optimistic) how long would you guess it would take to get MSP?

Both my fiance and I are from the MSP area and the reason obviously I am seriously looking at them is to get back that direction.

I understand most junior FOs get MEM or Detroit....do many of those guys commute to MSP? If I had the potential of getting MSP a few months after being hired I would commute...on the flip side if it were going to take some time to get to MSP I would be less interested in applying.

Thanks for any thoughts or info....

It really depends on which equipment you get. If you're in the Avro, it could take quite some time before you get back to MSP. If you're on the Saab, lately, there have been people who get the transfer back to MSP while they are a couple of months out of class. Now the effective date for these transfers varies. Plus, this could all change with hiring trends within the company. So it depends on which aircraft you get and how many new hires...

Good luck though!

I am in one of the most recent classes and I have 6-7 guys in front of me who get MSP before I can, most from my class. I will fly the Saab and hope to be back to MSP by the end of the summer.

Hiring

It is true that it is/has taken longer to get MSP on the Avro. When I started last year, I had 20 people between MSP and me. Now, I'm down to ONLY 18!! However, the Saab guys get MSP very quickly. One guy in my crashpad was awarded MSP while doing his IOE (just remember it takes 1-2 months for this to take effect). He did his Green-line and one month of Reserve in DTW but as of next week, is in MSP.

But this lethargic movement could change soon with the increase in hiring. I talked with two guys today, one from the training dept. and one guy just out of class. I was told we are hiring at least 30 people a month for the "foreseeable future". I was also told that the guys in class are being told that by this time next year, they should have 400 guys under them. That's a big change from the 6-12 new hires a month due to attrition. I'm trying to pessimistic but there are just too many factors to get excited about.

Time will tell...

I think your hiring numbers may be a little inflated, but the big picture is correct from what I have heard. The Avro is a senior ship, so your naturally gonna take a little longer to get what you want.

yeah guy, take your own advice, and try Pinnapple, i think their days of getting new aircraft are over with for awhile (once they get the ones that are due to be delivered). I am not saying we (Mesaba) are getting any, since everything is speculation.....Rumor etc.

Do a lot of FOs that get MEM commute to MSP? (Is it a huge pain to do?)

So you live in MEM? If I understand correctly you want to be based in MEM and not worry about commuting to MSP. Right now, all initial awards are going to MEM and DTW. MSP awards come a couple months after because it's a more senior base.

ok nevermind it's late and i didn't read your first post. so you want to relocate back to MSP. well usually the commute is people living in MSP and commuting to the other bases, not the other way around. I don't think any MEM folks commute to MSP. some probably commute to CVG or DTW. MSP is too senior to commute to.

You're better off moving up MEM's domicile list then MSP. but if you're moving back to MSP, then u might as well bid MSP and by the time u get out of sim training or at least a month or so after, you should be able to hold MSP however you'll be on reserve much longer in MSP.
