Why do they have the onlne application but above it is says
"Do not apply online"? Those whom have applied what the best way to apply? FAX or mail or both? Thanks for advice.

best way to get an interview is have someone walk in your stuff directly to a chief pilot. otherwise, you're subject to being put in the "other pile". company plans to hire 5-10 a month thru at least first quarter of this year.

Appreciate the info. Do you know if you should do the online app if its your initial app? I would love to get on over at mesaba and i dont know anyone who flys at mesaba so that sucks. Thanks for any input.

DO NOT APPLY ONLINE
If you wish to apply for the position, please send an updated resume to:

Mesaba Aviation, Inc.
Human Resources Department
1000 Blue Gentian Rd, Suite 200
Eagan, MN 55121-1679
Fax 651-367-5392

Expiration date for acceptance of resumes: January 20, 2005

I guess you gotta send in and/or fax your resume (don't forget a coverletter). It may be a shot in the dark, but you'll never know if you don't apply. good luck!

Will most newhires go to the Saab or will some get the Avro? How do people like the Avro? Looks like a nice ride...

I will definitly do that. I had already faxed off. But not mailed. It will be in the mail on monday. I might fax it again to udate it. thanks again i really appreciate it.

The training dept. has always said they place you where they need you regardless of flight time. I don't know how true it is. Us Saab grunts always joke about how some Avro FOs believe they were "hand picked" based on experience and their interview sim eval.

For a long time the company did the sim eval in a Frasca 141. Now I've heard they do it in our Saab and Avro sims, depending on what's available that day. Obviously they dont expect you to be Mr Saab or Avro- I guess they're just looking for your IFR scan and see how well you can handle flying at 200 knots or faster.

Right now, there are probably more people being hired into the Saab than Avro. Their is a 2 year seatlock so if you get bored of one aircraft u can switch over later.

Evaluation are now being done at Wings (KSTP) in an AST-300. The Avro and Saab sims are too busy with training to be used for evals. As for the last several classes, the split has been pretty close to half and half with regards to the aircraft. From what I gathered, the aircraft you got depended on when you returned your phone call to the chief pilot. For our class, those who called back first got the Avro.. Luck of the draw... Good luck with the interview!

Obviously, it depends on a lot. However, we're losing quite a few captains. The class for January was supposed to be 4 and was bumped up to 16 due to attrition. You can fill in the blanks from there...

Where are the Captains going? Are airlines like SWA and JetBlue picking them up?

Not true.

Aircraft assignments are done by the training department and the chief pilots have nothing to do with this part of the process. It also has nothing to do with when you call back. Just coincidence.

Right now you have to have about 5.5 years here to upgrade, but those upgrading now believed when they were hired it was only 2. It all depends on attrition and growth, and unless you have a crystal ball, don't even hazard a guess.

I thought it was a 3 year seat lock from DOH if you never had the chance to upgrade and then a 2 year if you switched A/C? Both airplanes have their advantages- I've been in both and am having a much better time of it in the Saab. Just get some good TSO'd headsets.
