I was just wondering if I could get some general info on Mesaba

1. Any commuter clause
2. Is commuting from IND easy
3. Easiest base to commute to from IND
4. How long is reserve
5. How long is training and where at
6. Any guesses on upgrade time with the new hiring
7. Average days off per month

With so little negativity posted on this site about Mesaba, it seems like a great place to get on with. People seem happy and very professional, not all the bickering like a lot of the other regionals. It's definatlely a place I would like to work.

Thanks for any information.

"Call in Honest" requires that you give yourself at least two flights (XJ, PCL, or NWA) that arrive at least one hour before your report.

Call out on reserve is 90 min to the airport.....another 60 min to get the flight out.

Training is held in MSP.....takes about 3 weeks ground school, another week or two for sim.

XJ provides single occupancy hotel room and pays you during training.

From your first day you are given travel benifits that allow you to non-rev or jump seat.

If I could quess upgrade time, I would play the lotto more.........ie..no idea.

As far as feeder airlines go, XJ is one of the best. This is probably the reason you don't hear that much XJ bashing......

Reserve lines are built with 11 days off minimum.

Average days off is dependent on your seniority.........average days off given average seniority.....about 14 to 15 depending on the time of year/flight schedule.

I don't know if this helps, but good luck anyway.

mesaba also has a 2 flight honesty policy where if you try and comute on 2 different flights and dispatch cant find another flight for you, you are off the hook. Just don't abuse it. I would go for the detroit base. Then you can talk to everyone about how the pistons beat the pacers again
